Parking ticket question, please

Are tickets automatically throw out if the facts are incorrect?

In my neighborhood, let's just say 3rd avenue and 3rd street intersect on my block. My car was parked on 3rd street. The ticket says 3rd avenue. It also says a house number that does not exist on 3rd avenue.

Is this enough to get the ticket thrown out?

Should I still include my other defenses, or just leave it at that?

I thought that was the case... my dad once had a ticket thrown out because the guy marked the wrong color of his car!

Re: Parking ticket question, please

I got a speeding ticket once in a brand new car, and when the cop gave me the ticket it had the old cars info on it. Not even close to the same thing. When I went to court (nassau county), they totally laughed in my faceChat Icon

Re: Parking ticket question, please

Just state the patrol person's mistake and it will get thrown out. I had one thrown out because two states were checked.

Suffolk courts are I think some of the toughest, and they did not automatically throw them out for officer error.
I spent several hours in traffic court listening to people try to defend themselves though! Chat Icon

Where was the parking ticket written? The 5 Boros or LI?

Re: Parking ticket question, please

I've heard many stories about mistakes, and once the judge heard what the mistake was, and what it should have been, they just corrected it, and the person was still guilty. People shouldn't get away with illegal activity over a typo....

I disagree and will tell you how to get away with it....
Do not goto court, when you get a notice in the mail in a few months take it to court and state that when you received the notice you went to find said location and it does not exist, so you do not know how you could have been parked there......
TICKED DISMISSED.

My wife use to get snow tickets in Mineola and if the info about the car or the street was incorrect that is what we did ...........

Re: Parking ticket question, please

Everyone has parked illegally at least once, it is not a terrible offense. Just state what was incorrect and months later you will get a notice it has been thrown out. It is not a moral dilemma, just do it and save your $125/$150 for grocery shopping.
