if was a , we'd do it as early as possible. Both my sister and I had it done as infants - I don't remember the pain at all.

I got DD ears pierced at around 4 months. I wanted them done for her Christening.

We're waiting until she asks to do it with Lily. I'm not a huge fan of the look of earrings on babies (although there are certain infants I've seen who look precious with them ). And I thought it should be something she chooses for herself.
I had mine done at 11, and I don't remember the pain at all. I remember that it hurt, but I don't have nightmares about it, and it didn't scar me for life!

I think it's a personal decision and not for me to judge.

I got my ears pierced when I was 7 for my first communion. My mom and I had a special day together, we went to get them done, and went to lunch after. I remember that much more than the pain. I plan to do the same with Grace. To each his own.

If was a we would've waited to get her ears pierced. I didn't get mine pierced until I was 13. It was a right of passage for me and my sisters. Becoming a teenager brought with it more freedom of expression and we were given the option, which we all took I remember having a special day with my mom and needing a lollipop to get rid of feeling faint afterwards from nerves, but I don't remember it hurting at all. DD had her ears pierced at 5 months. Love them. She cried for about a minute & never touched them. She is 17 months now.

It is a personal choice. I had my ears pierced when I was 2 months old and never had an infection. My DD had her ear pierced at 6 months old and no infection.

I'm on the fence about this too. While DD is only one month, and ideally, I would love to get her ears pierced early on because I know I will care for them, no infections etc. I just can't bear the thought of inflicting pain on something that is for aesthetic purposes. Even though I know she won't remember it...

Personally, I have no interest in piercing DD's ears right now. It's cute but to me it's one other thing to take care of and I don't want to worry that she'll somehow get the earring out and swallow it. (It happened to my BFF's DD) I'll wait until she's older and then she can decide if she wants her ears pierced or not. I didn't get mine done until I was 13. I'm not really in a rush to get hers done.

DD is only 6 days old now, but we're thinking we'll have them done between 1-3 months.
I had mine done at 1 month old and I certainly don't remember it. And like the OP said, I think she'd be less inclined to play with the earrings and mess with her ears the younger she is. We'll definitely be piercing them young though.

If I had a DD, I wouldn't do it until she was at least 5 years old.

I got mine done for my Communion at 7 years old. My Aunt and my mom took me and it was a special day for us. I do not remember the pain. Its not too bad.
I want my child to be old enough to understand how to take care of it and such.

If I had a DD, I would wait until she asked. My mom took me for my 16th birthday and it is a special memory for me.

Same here-this is how it was for me and I still have memories of the day-feeling so fancy and grown up, going to the jewelers with my Nana, going to Macy's to pick a special pair of earrings for later and then lunch

I have a boy but my neice had her ears peirced at like 2 months and I remember thinking how cute it looked.

this is just my personal opinion... I feel that those are her ears, when she wants to have them pierced she will ask me, and if I feel she's old enough to take care of them from being infected, I will take her to get them pierced.
I do love the look of baby girls with little diamond studs though

I did my daugters as soon as i was allowed. 2 1/2 months. I had them done to me when i was very young as well. It is nice not remembering the pain.

We had our DD's ears done at 5 months. She barely cried and never fussed with them. I love the way they look on her. If I have another DD I will have her ears done as an infant as well.

For me (and I'm all sorts of pierced up)

I will not pierce my DD's ears until she is ready to want them.

When I was a little girl it was something special, a privilege, to have them done.

I want the same for my DD.

Plus, DD plays with her hair, her ears etc WAY too much. I was too afraid of her yanking them out.

We waited until they were old enough to ask. My older DD got them when she was 5, my younger had it when she turned 3. They barely cried, helped me take care of the piercing, etc.

I had DD's ears pierced as soon as the ped said it was okay - 4.5 months. I like it and I prefered to do it before she knew she had ears so she wouldn't mess with them.

I don't have a daughter yet but if (when) I do, I have no intention of piercing her ears until she is old enough to ask for it and take care of it herself.
