did it at 4 months! Best decision! She was over it by the time we got in the crar and we have had no problems whatsoever

Funny you should post this, I just had Ella's ears pierced on Tuesday. It was at her 3 month check-up. I really wanted it done for her christening next week and I love little girls with their ears pierced. I think it looks adorable. To be honest DH wasn't thrilled. He ended up deferring to me, so we did it. The good thing is she won't play with them and I will be the one caring for them now, so she shouldn't have any issues.

Have not read all the responses, but I had DDs done the day she cut her first tooth (8 months) because she was already uncomfortable, and I figured the tooth thing would distract her away from the earrings. I was right, she has NEVER touched them, or lost one. She is almost 2 now.

we did it at about 7 mths or so. no issues with her touching them or anything. She literally cried for 30 seconds and it was over with. Im happy we did it early on. each to their own though.

this is just my personal opinion... I feel that those are her ears, when she wants to have them pierced she will ask me, and if I feel she's old enough to take care of them from being infected, I will take her to get them pierced.
I do love the look of baby girls with little diamond studs though

IMO, pierced ears are not a must.... and there are some detrimental factors involved with them... they could get infected, an alloy allergy could develop, they could get torn....

I would wait until my daughter is at least 12 and wants them badly.

(After all, maybe she won't even want them!)

I think I am going to wait until is about 5 -- not sure yet. I'm with you, I'm really on the fence.

The only person I know who doesn't have earrings is someone who keloids (sp). She wanted them. That being said I have never known a woman who resented their parents for piercing their ears at ANY age.

We pierced Abby's ears 3 months ago when she was 6 months old. She cried. She got over it. She looks adorable. She didn't look any more traumatized than a little boy who got his first haircut and was scared too.

we had dd's ears pierced at the drs office at 3 months, she cried when they were marking her ears, not when they actually pierced them, go figure.

we went home she never paid any attention to them until she got older and started to play with them, but by then they were already healed.

her pediatrician's office actually recommends doing them at that age for that reason!

got my dd's done at 3.5 months, no regrets....oh except for that the lady that pierced them was an idiot and they are uneven

We arent going to do DDs as of now at DHs request.

I dont have mine pierced.

If she wants them some day I will take her.

i'm going to wait until she asks. i'm not a fan of earrings on babies and honestly don't want to put her through it as a baby. when she's older if she wants it and asks i'll take her and make a special day out of it.

if you're going to do it though, i'd get it done at the dr. those piercing guns at the mall, etc. are really dirty and i've heard/know horror stories about them.
