Re: Please tell me it gets easier
Hollie, when you go back to work, you will have someone very near and dear to lean on!!
It DOES get a lot easier. It will make your day go by MUCH faster when you look forward to seeing that little man at the end of the day!!!

I have no advice, but want to tell you that you are doing what is best for your baby. it will be hard, but in the long run, it will work out for the best.

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
It's NEVER easy - but it does get easier. And (believe it or not) there may even be days that you look forward to getting to work for a few hours.
I can tell you at 7 and 5 my sons are NEVER far from my thoughts - but I carry them in my heart and it makes the day go quicker and makes the return home that much sweeter.

It gets a bit easier...it still hurts sometimes that I can't be home to see her do certain things...

Honestly, nothing will ease your mind until you experience it and see that it will definitely get easier...all I can say is that we ALL felt that way!!

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
Thanks ladies. I am calm for now. I called my job and asked if I could work 3 days a week. They are seeing what they can do.
I'll need you all next week when it's really time to go back.

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
I was fortunate enough to be able to take a year off from my job....and it was still very hard to leave Taylor when I went back to work. It does get easier...but sometimes I still get sad when I drop her off at day care

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
No suggestions, but it does get easier....the anticipation was so much worse for me than actually being back at work...once you get into a routine it will be a little better. Also, when you are at work you will be busy so you won't have time to dwell, whereas now you have some more free time on your hands so you can think about it more (which makes it worse....at least I know it did for me) I won't lie - I was hysterical the week before, esp. the two days before....but when I actually got to work, I was ok.

I can totally relate. I go back to work tomorrow and I've been crying for the last week.

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
I completely relate to what you are going through. I will be returning to work on January 26 after 3 months at home with my little Aiden. While I am excited at the idea of getting back into the swing of things I dread the idea of missing out on time with my little one. I wish my job was closer to home and less stressful... i work downtown and that a 1 and a half hour commute on the express bus when all is well.
I am right there with you!!!
I am sure it will get easier as everyone posted... .

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
I cried the whole weekend before I went back to work, sobbed on my way in the first day and cried most of the morning when I got there... the first day was tough (and I work really crappy hours) but it really has gotten easier... I do miss him like crazy though!!

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
Oh Hollie! All of us who have been there can completely empathize with you. I cried for the last couple of weeks of my leave before going back after I had Benjamin.
What other posters have said about it getting easier once a routine is established is very true. The first week was absolutely the hardest but more so for me because he adjusted beautifully from the get-go.
There are still days where it's really hard, especially if I've been home with him for a few days after vacation or he's been sick but, again, once we're back in the routine it's all good.
I promise...it will get easier. We're all here for you.

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
It's hard, but for me, it helped knowing that DH and found a terrific daycare that my DD loves. She is thriving there, and while my first choice would be to be home with her, it's just not possible. But I feel good knowing that she has the next best thing and that she's thriving there. What she gets at daycare is a great supplement to what she gets from DH and I when we're all together.

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
Keep in mind it will always be harder for you than for him. He will love the caretakers, the kids, the buzz of activity around him. It meant the world to me to see Cailen smile when I dropped him off in the morning. It was hard for me, but he gained so much in his little life from the experience. You will see!

Re: Please tell me it gets easier
It does get easier. I remember I had to go back to work when my boys were 3 months old, I cried my eyes out for days. But you will learn to appreciate your time with him more
