Postpartum Weight Loss
I delivered almost three months ago, am breastfeeding/pumping but have had very little weight loss postpartum. I started going to the gym again and my diet, while not impeccable, is not bad.
Problem is, I lost 20 pounds after delivering (out of 40 gained) and have lost nothing in the past 7 weeks. I was a normal weight to begin with. My stomach is still pretty distended (especially at night I could pass for 7 months pregnant) and thats the hardest part.
I know I need to give it more time but I feel like before I delivered all I heard was that if you breastfeed "the weight just falls right off."
Anyone else have experience with slow postpartum weight loss and have any advice? Thanks in advance!

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I gained closer to 50 with both my DD. It was very slow with dd1. But when I really watched my portions & then got back I to working out regularly, the weight came right off (& I BF for 13mo). With dd2 it was even faster & I'm even now at a size 4....I was NEVER that small, even before kids!

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I lost all mine by 12 weeks BUT I worked crazy hard to get there. My diet was insane. I don't think I would have been able to do it if I was breast feeding.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I lost the last few pounds with WW and exercise. It is doable, but remember it took you 9 months to gain so it might take the same to lose, everybody is different, you will get there

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I could have written the OP, same numbers and everything. I assumed the weight would "fall off" since I'm BFing, but it's not, and if I don't watch what I eat I even gain a few pounds. It's so depressing. I'm almost 5 months PP. When things settle down I hope to be able to exercise more and eat better and hopefully that will make a difference.
But you're not alone. Not everyone drops right back into their pre-pregnancy clothes 2 months PP.

Yup! I lost the weight fast and all my clothes fit fine but I feel like my stomach will never be the same. I feel like it's just so much more flabby and mushy then before.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I weighed 130 before getting pregnant and at the end weighed 174. After 8 weeks I was stuck at 148, unable to move the scale. I am EBF so I couldn't diet because I was always starving. I also went back to the gym, but with an infant, its hard to be able to just go like I used to. My LO ended up with a milk protein allergy and I wanted to continue to breastfeed. I cut out all dairy, Every single drop including breads. Since then I have lost 10 lbs and only have a few pounds left to go. Also, My OBGYN told me that you dont just loose weight while BF, your body actually holds on to 10lbs of fat. I tell everyone now that after the next baby, I will probably skip all dairy until I loose my weight.

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I feel your pain... I only gained 30 lbs with the twins. and I lost it in the first 2 months. However, I can not seem to loose the rest of the IVF weight. 15 lbs or so. I'm now almost 9 months PP. I make a lot of milk every day. I pump enough to feed both girls exclusively. We have never substituted I have very little time for exercise,(working full time, pumping and twins) but when I can (a few times a week) I do a serious walk with the babies. I just wish I could do something more about this also....

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
I lost it with the help of WW and exercise. I wasnt pre-baby weight until about 5 months pp and once I stopped BFing, it fell off (while dieting).

Re: Postpartum Weight Loss
Bf really did nothing for me!!! I hated when people said bf makes the weight come right off, because that is not true for everyone. I lost all the weight with diet and exercise within 4 months, but i worked hard to get there. It wasn't until much later that I think bf kicked in because by about 7 months pp i was having trouble keeping weight on (weird problem to have). My point is give yourself time!!!! You will get where you want to be! Don't worry!!!!!!!
