Potty training question for a friend (BTDT moms)
My GF has a 3 year old DS and an almost 5 month old DS. She has been trying to potty train the 3 year old but its been really hard because he sees the baby in diapers and wants to wear diapers to. my DS is only 4 months and since he is my first I dont have much advice for her.
I did tell her to make her older DS to feel special and like the big boy so he will want to be different then the baby, give him responsibilities with helping with the baby and to maybe explain if he uses the potty then one day he can teach his baby brother how to use the potty! but thats all I could think of.
Has anyone experienced this or can anyone help her? I feel really bad and can only imagine how stressful it is!!

Re: Potty training question for a friend (BTDT moms)
I used to babysit for a family with 3 girls: 7, 3 and 10 months when I started. They were potty training the 3 year old without any real success. She was very jealous of the baby and regressed a bit. In addition to a few extra responsibilities, we praised and thanked her for being such a big girl and using the potty as opposed to the little baby and her stinky diapers. It was especially helpful to have others outside the immediate family praise her on being a big girl b/c she saw that it wasn't just mommy and daddy trying to coax her into something but rather "oh wow everyone thinks I'm a big girl".
