Pregnancy & Dental Work/Antibiotics
So I just found out that I have an infected abcess on my tooth and I have to start antibotics and have an extraction Saturday My dentist notified my OB immediately and he said Z-pack is okay and to extract the tooth because its best to get rid of any source of infection.
My is anyone else ever have a tooth pulled while expecting (Im 22 weeks) and has anyone ever had to be on antibiotics during pregnancy? Everyone assures me this is okay....so why am I freaking out?!!??

Re: Pregnancy & Dental Work/Antibiotics
I am in the dental field & I also have taken antibiotics when i was sick. It is perfectly safe to have procedures done in your 2nd trimester. If you dont have the tooth taken care of the infection can go into your blood stream & effect you child....I am not trying to scare you just telling you the truth.

Re: Pregnancy & Dental Work/Antibiotics
My best friend just had a tooth pulled today while 20 weeks pregnant. She had to do it with no novicaine, but it had to be done.
