PSA about the swine flu and the H1N1 vaccine

Nicholas was diagnosed with the swine flu AND pneumonia today. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

He got the H1N1 vaccine on Nov. 6th.

Doctors told me today that if he HAD NOT received that vaccine, he'd be in the hospital today.

Apparently, he has contracted a "mild" case of the swine flu. If he had not been vaccinated, he would have been far worse off.

I honestly can't even IMAGINE a worse case than his.

Just wanted those to know that are debating whether or not to vaccinate. 3 doctors today commended me for vaccinating him. They said he would have been far worse. Chat Icon

edited for clarification.

Re: PSA about the swine flu and the H1N1 vaccine

That is so scary. I am thinking more and more I would like to get myself and my son vaccinated ( I am in the hospital ) and am exposed to everything, would hate to bring that home. I just need to find somene with the preservative free shot.

I am so sorry. Hope he feels better real soon.

I am surprised they admitted the vaccination gave it to him tho Chat Icon what a very impressive admission!

Its a good thing he got vaccinated and hopefully won't suffer long or badly.

i assumed she mistyped and meant to say he only got a mild case due to the fact he got the vaccination??

I am sorry your little boy is sick. But how can they say he would have been worse when they say he contracted it due to the vaccine. How do they know he would have contracted it anyway? or am I missing something?Chat Icon Chat Icon

No...I meant that due to (and thanks to) the vaccination, he ONLY contracted a mild case. If not for the vaccination, he would have been far worse off.

The way I interpreted the post was that he ONLY got a mild case of the flu because he was already vaccinated, not because of the vaccination.

Hope he feels better! Chat Icon

Thank you. Yes, exactly. I am running on empty right now and not making much sense. But yes...that is exactly how I meant that! Thank you.Chat Icon

Ah i see the edit.

Sorry I must have misread the original. This makes much more sense. Still regardless how he got it, mild or not, I'm sorry he's sick and hope he feels better real soon.

Because it takes at least 2 weeks to get in your system just like any vaccine. I hope he feels better soon!!!!!!!!!!

Re: PSA about the swine flu and the H1N1 vaccine

Terrifying.

Add to the fact that Robbie's friend has swine flu and he is at a higher risk for pneumonia because he's had it in the past and I am just ready to cry right now.

And he can't get the vaccine. It's not available for him.Chat Icon

I hope your little man is feeling better very soon!!!!

Re: PSA about the swine flu and the H1N1 vaccine

So sorry your little boy is so sick! I hope he gets better soon!

This is the 5th case I have heard of who did received the H1N1 shot and still got the swine flu. IMO, you don't know who or what to trust/believe.

Many prayers that your DS gets better soon!
