Re: Push Present....
obviously the babies health are most important - that goes without saying.
however
I would love a necklace or bracelet with two stones - something i can add to if and when we have more kids! i think it's a cute idea

Re: Push Present....
my baby certainly is my gift. however, the way i see it, we often give gifts to celebrate many of life's biggest events (anniversaries, big birthdays, etc.), so I don't see this an an exception. it's what works for us. last time we gave each other gifts.
i'd like a new mommy necklace with both DDs names on it and their birthstones in crystal, from Etsy. I picked it out already b/c it is made by the woman who made my goddaughter's communion necklace. I'm not sure i'm getting DH anything this time...last time I got him a DSLR.

Re: Push Present....
DH would not even know what this is and I wont be telling him what it is. I dont think DH needs to buy me something for pushing out a baby.
It stinks in a way that I have to be the one to do this, , but he also doesnt get to experience what is like to have a baby growing inside you. So I think we (women) get a pretty good gift.
Eventually I may want some type of mommy necklace or something, but I can get that wheneve, DH is very good to me on daily, so I know whatever it is I may want, he would get it for me or let me get it myself.

Re: Push Present....
I never got one for any other pregnancy and I won't for this one. BUT, once I get skinny again after having the baby, I will be buying a whole new wardrobe, so I guess you can count that as mine

I had never heard about this concept until I joined LIF.....
I tried to ask DH for one with DS and he tells me....."A push present? But you're not even pushing!" (I had a Csection with DS)
I guess he had a point...lol
Knowing this is just for fun I would love to get a "mommy" necklace of some sort....
in your case, it is called a "gash gift"

Re: Push Present....
i got a new wedding band when we had DS and this time around i asked for new diamond earrings (i figure a pair of earrings to symbolize my twins) after the PG ive been having (strict bed rest for the past 13 weeks and will be until these babies are born---at least another 5-8 weeks (including complete pelvic rest - ie: absolutely no , dr appts 2x/week, severe back pain, GD), DH is happy to comply

We can't afford a push present with twins on the way! BUT, if I were getting one, I would a piece of jewelry that could represent my babies.

Re: Push Present....
I know for a fact my DH got me something as a combined mothers day, anniversary, birthday, and push present. The reason I know is because it arrived today and was a NIKON D5000. He has been away since DS was three months old and came back when DS was 15 months. Then he was gone again for two weeks in October of which we had no contact whatsoever. Then again in November for two weeks to Japan again no contact. Then december he was away for two weeks to Arizona. January and feb were spent traveling for three days each week upstate. Then in March he left until May 26th when he comes home again. All this time I am taking care of a two year old, working as a Nanny, and being uncomfortably pregnant. Your Darn Tooting I am getting a camera. LOL

Re: Push Present....
After what I went through to get pregnant and stay pregnant including surgery and 3 miscarriages between my two children as well as a D and C you can be darn sure that I want and will be getting a push present and will have ZERO problems asking for it. I'd like someone to tell me to my face that I shouldn't ask for anything. Ya know what they will get? A big fat KICK in the shin with a smile on my face and ZERO remorse.
EVERY time this subject comes up I get really pi$$y about it. Can ya tell?
Frankly, a tangible acknowledgement at the time of a child's birth, to me is NO different than a tangible gift on each and every Mother's Day. If my husband wants to buy me something and can afford to do so, he will. If he cannot, I would not think any less of him. It is his joy to be able to do things for me.
That being said, for Abby, I got a laptop and for I'd like an SLR so I can take photos of the children to chronicle their lives.

Re: Push Present....
My push present will be staying home with our ! As a teacher, I am being excessed due to the economy and won't have a position for next year. We figured everything happens for a reason and although it will be insanely tight, I will take the time (hopefully the full year) to be home with the baby. I am so grateful to be able to do this. Under my particular circumstances, I don't expect anything and prefer not to get anything because we will be pretty strapped!

Re: Push Present....
My "push present" ( I really dislike the concept of a push present... BUT... that's not the question)....
We will be hiring a baby nurse to help out for the first couple of months after is born.
We had one for 3 weeks after DD was born and it was the best $$ we ever spent. And in hindsight we should have done it from day 1 (we had a baby nurse from when DD was 3 weeks old until she was 6 weeks)

Re: Push Present....
Nothing! There is nothing I need or want.
First time around DH bought me a DSLR camera. It wasn't really a "push" present (got it around 20 weeks pregnant) but it was a gift so I could take pics of the baby.
