Question about freezing food--those w/experience, do you know
if you can freeze potatoes? Like if I made garlic red potatoes as a side and then froze a bunch?
What about some other things like breaded chicken cutlets?
A casserole that has either rice or noodles in it?
Mac n cheese casserole?
Stew or chili?
Breakfast casserole (eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese etc in a pie crust)?
Chicken pot pie?
I'm trying to cook and freeze some meals before my first baby arrives and am not sure if some of this stuff will freeze ok and for how long...

Re: Question about freezing food--those w/experience, do you know
I've frozen stew and chili with no problem. I have the vacuum sealer and used the bags that came with it. I just sealed the bag, didn't vacuum the air out. I than put the bags in boiling hot water to heat them up to eat. I would think you could freeze the chix cutlets, but I would freeze them separately. To avoid them from sticking together. Once frozen I would than put them all in one bag. Not sure about anything else you mentioned.

if you can freeze potatoes? Like if I made garlic red potatoes as a side and then froze a bunch? NOT SURE... PROBABLY WILL TASTE VERY DIFFERENT.
What about some other things like breaded chicken cutlets? YES! THAW IN MICROWAVE ON DEFROST CYCLE, THEN NUKE UNTIL WARM.
A casserole that has either rice or noodles in it? YES! THAW SLOWLY ON DEFROST CYCLE OR IN REFRIGERATOR, THEN PORTION OUT. BETTER TO FREEZE SMALL PORTIONS.
Mac n cheese casserole? YES, SAME AS ABOVE
Stew or chili? YES, THAW AND THEN PORTION OUT AND HEAT Breakfast casserole (eggs, sausage, potatoes, cheese etc in a pie crust)? YOU CAN BUY FROZEN QUICHES, BUT I'VE NEVER TRIED IT. MY GUT INSTINCT IS THAT IT WON'T REHEAT WELL.
Chicken pot pie? PROBABLY NOT. CRUST WILL GET SOGGY. I'm trying to cook and freeze some meals before my first baby arrives and am not sure if some of this stuff will freeze ok and for how long...
BEST FOODS TO FREEZE FOR LATER USE ARE STEWS, SOUPS, LASAGNA, NOODLE CASSEROLES... ALSO BUY AND PORTION OUT IN THE FREEZER THINGS LIKE SAUSAGES, FROZEN VEGGIES... AND KEEP FRESH EGGS IN THE HOUSE. ALL OF THESE THINGS ARE GOOD GO-TO ITEMS AND TAKE LESS THEN 10 MIN TO COOK.
HOPE THIS HELPS!
