ILs don't watch them, but my parents would never ask for or take money. If we have something like a wedding, they'll drive 2.5 hours to our home just to babysit and spend time with DS. SIL and BIL will also drive an hour to our home just to babysit and see DS. They wouldn't ask for or accept money.

I have offered my mother many times, but she always refuses. I think she feels that if I pay her, she has to do things my way.

I've never offered but I know they wouldn't take it. My parents watched my kids when I went to Barcelona for 4 days. I gave little gifts as a thank you, but no money.
They had an affair to go to one night while I was away so I had my babysitter at their house. My mom wanted to pay her! I didn't allow that - I paid the babysitter.

Same here. My ILs would pay FOR Us to go so they could get DD into their hands for a day let alone a weekend.

No but both gransmothers are in their 80s so it would never happen anyway.
My sister however would accept and expect $ - and she is 47.

i dont have kids yet but i think my mom might accept money  ...
$200 for 5 days isn't bad - plus you offered....and like others said, if you offer you kind of have to expect them to take it....
i know my mom might look for money to feed the kid and for any other expense she might have while babysitting - that way it isn't costing her any money out of her pocket...i could be wrong but that is how i think my parents will be
