Not very often. Nice restaurant, once in a blue moon. Fast food, maybe once a month. Pizza take out maybe one a month too.

truthfully I dont remember ever going out maybe once for ice cream

to nice restaurants? hardly ever

we mostly went to pizza, hut, sizzler, red lobster, olive garden....

but we also hardly ever went out-my mother cooked every night.

There was this restaurant called CoCo's where kids under 12 ate free on Monday and Tuesday nights. So we ate there pretty often on one of those nights.

And sometimes the diner on weekends.

My mom cooked at home a lot.
We would go out on "report card day", "last day of school", or maybe a sat. night here and there.

We would go to:
The Ground Round
Friendly's
McD's (this would be if we had a school concert or something "school" related that night and wanted something quick)
Pizza

There's a restaurant here in town called Robke's. We'd go there too.

We went to the Ground Round a lot.
I used to love the popcorn on the tables and the cartoons on the big screen and I THINK kids would get a balloon too!

Friendly's was also a big one with us.

And Pizza Hut.

And of course, I ate a LOT of McDonald's and stuff like that when I was a kid- I think that's the reason why I can't stay away from it now- no matter how hard I try!

We also did take out around once a week.

Are you my long lost 7th sibling?? Lol!!

We went to the same restaurants, especially ground round. They had "kids pay what they weigh" so my parents spent about 60 cents average on each of us

We loved it b/c of the cartoons, face painting and balloons. And sometimes we'd head to adventureland which was down the road....

I think we ate out onc a month at a family restaurant - like Friendley's, or Swiss Chalet up in Rochester...usually on the evenings we would go to Sam's.

Every so often we went upscale and that occurred when my father got gift cards as holiday bonuses from work.

My dad used to take my mom and I out to eat alot (my bros were older by then). I think I developed a love of shrimp at 8 lol. We would do Italian alot though. I think like every other Saturday or at least it felt that way. Its bad though b/c I have a bad habit of wanting to eat out alllll the time.

Hardly ever. My parents couldn't afford it. I remember every once in awhile we would get McDonald's and if we got McDonald's and Blockbuster in the same day it was like Christmas for us.

We went maybe 2x a week out to dinner and then my mom (who is NO cook) got fast food for like every other meal. My main food memories were mcdonalds all the time and the diner on thurs nights.

As a kid, we rarely went out to eat. Only for parties.

Now...my parents go out to eat probably 3 times a week.

We (me, DH and the kids) go to a restaurant at least 2- 3 times a month. Then of course, we do pizza places/ Mc D's a few times a month too.

Only for birthdays... and mostly we got to choose where we wanted.

Once or twice- when my dad worked security in manhattan, we went to a fancy steak place on 3rd ave.

Mostly we went to cheaper places like Sizzler.

Not very often. Every now and again we'd go to a diner or to the Ground Round where kids paid their weight. Anyone remember that? And sundaes in the plastic baseball caps?

We'd sometimes order in Chinese, too, although I always begged to go out in the chinese restaurant because I used to love the tea and teacups!

On certain occassions we would go out, but rarely. Not because of a money issue but my parents were born in Italy, mother is an awesome cook, so for us to go eat out at an Italian restaurant was a joke, LOL! Hamburgers were made homemade with fresh chopped meat, seasonings, you can't buy a burger the way my mother makes it. Same thing with steaks. Once in a while, we would order chinese food.

ETA: Friendly's was a place they would take us for fun. I don't feel like I missed out on anything....Some of my friends who ate out 2-3 times a week, couldn't believe that my mother cooked dinner every night and the food she prepared and they used to ask if they could eat over On any given day we would have fra diavolo, linguini with fresh clams, gnocchi, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, etc.

ALmost never. we did go to Tony Roma's every now and then, and a few good Italian restaurants (that were "approved" by the italian community, LOL)

my mom is off the boat ITalian, so she cooked better than all the restaurants and when we did go, she felt she had the right to critique them

but seriously, we had fresh pasta, fresh bread, sauce made with our fresh olive oil from our olive trees in italy (which we still have and still use ) so to us, people went out to eat if they didnt have the good cookin that we had

we grew up around a huge Italian community and we all had the same traditions.
and many of our classmates (whose parents were from all walks of life: Greece, India, Russia, Korea, Japan, China, etc) we all were first generation so we were all in similar situations and loved sharing eachothers foods at food festivals.

we never felt we missed out on anything. actually we felt bad for those that had to go out to get a good meal.

Once WE got older, we started taking my parents out to eat, and they def love it and enjoy it.

NOW ?

Now I LOVE going out to eat (cooking by the stove all day didnt rub off on me ) and I love to have foods from all cultures.
We didnt have chinese takeout til we were teenagers. now I love chinese, indian, japanese and so many different dishes/cooking styles, etc.

Hardly ever. It had to be a special occasion or something. Even McD's and Burger King was special.

Sometimes we would go to Big Barry's - we had a house in Sound Beach I miss that place!

We usually went out to dinner with my parents on saturday nights. As young kids they did take us to fancy Italian restaurants and we needed to behave welll or my dad would kill us

Only for very special occasions - communions, confirmations, etc., sometimes when we had visitors. My parents still rarely go out for dinner.

McDonalds only came to Ireland when I was around 12 and I remember my mother bringing us there once or twice.

Every Sunday. Local places in MA where I grew up. Not chains usually.

We also ordered sandwiches/pizza or salads from our favorite local place on Thursdays.

My parents were creatures of habit.

Monday was also hamburger day when my mom cooked some dish with hamburger. But my mom isn't the best cook. So man, did I hate Mondays!
