Question for moms of toddlers who still BF
Does anyone else have a DC that just can't seem to start their day without BF? My son literally runs as fast as he can to find me if my DH goes in to get him out of the crib in the morning. I have weaned to just 2 feedings---first thing in AM and before bed. I think I could pretty easily drop the PM feeding, but I know I wouldn't be able to keep my supply for the AM if I do that----I don't know how to wean him!! Its like his morning caffeine! Anyone else in the same boat?

We weaned at 14 months and DD was similar to that in the morning. I think you should phase out the PM feeding and then if your milk does dwindle, it may make it easier for him to give up the AM feeding, KWIM? If he finds that he isn't getting any milk, he may just walk away and learn to live without it. I would introduce a sippy cup around that time. GL!

Re: Question for moms of toddlers who still BF
Same problem here. I think we can take away the night feeding and he'd be fine - he's so tired at that point and he literally nurses for ten seconds and then pulls off to cuddle.
In the morning, he will claw at me, pull on my shirt, yell MILLKKKKK. And after I nurse him, he'll pull off and start playing with my nipples (then i obviously cover up and move on to other things) but he's def. not interested in giving up this session.
He's 13 + months and I'm 12wks PG, it's time to stop - I just don't know how to go about it.
I feel your pain!

Re: Question for moms of toddlers who still BF
I weaned DS at around 13 months but we began at 11 months.
Little by little, I stopped feedings. The easiest was the lunch one. Then I decided to stop the harder one first (the AM feeding) and it was hard for about 2 days. But my trick was to be ready with his favorite toys!!! And some chocolate milk

DD is a week short of 15 months and nurses for 1 nap and at night. she will only fall asleep by nursing ...i don't think she will EVER stop! As of now i don't mind, but when she reaches 20 months i might try and wean her more.
