question for moms with later walkers
So DD just turned 13 mos...she is running cruising basically and is now just starting to prefer to walk (holding on to things) rather than crawl...but still not getting up by herself to stand or standing on her own...for moms that had later walkers when did that start and how long did it take them to walk on their own...Just curious...I know each child develops on their own schedule but just wanted to see...On the other hand she did just learn to pick her nose, how's that for a milestone...

Re: question for moms with later walkers
I wish I knew..my sons are 14 months old and both stand for minutes at a time, take steps....but won't fully walk. They start to and then just put their arms down and drop. It's very frustrating!

That's not late at all - really! Ryan didn't fully walk until 14 months and I asked around - it was normal

Re: question for moms with later walkers
DD was "Maggie Simpson", step step fall, step step fall for a few months. She started cruising around 13 months and was fully walking at about 18 months. She's still at the very end of the age range for all of her gross motor skills, for everything else she is early.

Re: question for moms with later walkers
thanks ladies, I'm not worried, and totally know she's still within the range...I'm just curious..bc she's not even standing by herself...she did pull to stand and cruise within literally a week..now she's an expert cruiser...LOL...She's def attempting to try to stand up on her own getting into the downward dog pose sometimes but thats where it ends...LOL..I def thnk she'll be a later walker...oh well...she's just getting sooo heavy to carry...

Re: question for moms with later walkers
Not late at all, my son was about 14 months when he walked. He was cruising and crawling for a long time first, though. I felt that the delay was fine because he was getting where he wanted to go and he certainly had a normal level of curiousity about everything. Now it does seem that he reaches the intellectual milestones before the physical. I was the same.

yup DD is like this as well, she's def early with the intellectual milestones and verbally she's always been "ahead" of the curve....

Re: question for moms with later walkers
DS has NO interest in walking. He can pull up to stand and he cruises but like Chelsea, he does NOT stand on his own. They will get there. C wants a playdate!

Re: question for moms with later walkers
13 months is still very early.
DS started cruising at 13-14 months. For MONTHS I thought he would walk.
He did 4 steps, then 8 steps, then back to cruising, then back to 4 steps. Walk with us holding our hands.
He FINALLY walk (by that I mean, fully walked!!!) at 16.5 months.

Re: question for moms with later walkers
Abby started to walk just before she turned 16 months. I wasn't worried and neither was her pediatrician. They can range anywhere from 9-18 months.
