Question for Working Moms in the morning

I feel like if I get Mason to daycare without drool, spitup, or boogers on me... it's a Successful Morning. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Even more successful if my hair and make-up is done (I do put my lipstick on after I drop him off so I don't get any on him). Chat Icon

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

I am totally vain and get up an hour early to make sure I have time to get myself done, get Sean done and keep my sanity -

My days of sleeping that extra 15 min and rushing out the door like a madwoman for the train are over .....Chat Icon

Now that Mason sleeps longer it helps sooo much. While he sleeps I get a shower, makeup, blowout my hair and get dressed. Then I go get Mason and pray he doesn't spitup all over me.

Make-up?? Chat Icon Chat Icon What is this you speak of???

Hair is always done before I leave - even if it's just a ponytail with a nice ribbon. I think I last wore make-up at my wedding.

I get up at 4:45 to make sure I have time to blow dry my hair before DH leaves to catch his 5:40 train just in case the baby wakes up!!!

As for spit up, I totally know what you mean. It happened this morning. Thank God for wipes because they get out almost everything. And then I go in the bathroom and blow dry the wet spot!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I just told DS I feel like a hot mess in the morning!!

Getting both kids out of the house and me looking somewhat normal are huge obstacles

I am really lucky. DH and I take turns getting ready while the other one watches DS.

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

I just had my first working mom morning. I got up at 6 and showered, dressed, makeup on (only takes me 2 min for makeup) and then the baby woke up around 645. I got him fed and dressed, then put him in the bouncy chair for 10 min while I blow dried my hair. Then I got him bundled up, into the car and at daycare by 820! I was very proud of myself. I did a test run to my office and made it there by 845, which was great. Not thrilled about not being home with him :( but this morning went ok.

You are lucky !!
DH is on the train @ 6:15 and I'm on the train @ 7:15 ........but I have to get my tush out of bed by 5:30 to be pretty much done for when the boss wakes up at 6:00 and out of the house by 6:30 -

I keep a tide stick and baby wipes on hand .........I've also been wearing my raincoat so it's easy to wipe grossness off of that !! Chat Icon

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

I do my makeup on the train otherwise there would be no makeup in the morning, and I always wear my hair curly because I don't have enough brain function in the mornings to do anything else, so that takes about 5 minutes.

But if it weren't for my DH helping out, I probably wouldn't be able to leave the house in the morning. DD wakes up before dawn and there's just no way I could handle that on my own.

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

Baby wipes are my savior!! It gets everything out. I use it to get deoderant marks off a black dress too. Chat Icon
I used to use rubbing alcohol (b4 I ever needed baby wipes), but the wipes smell better.
Also cleans the couch if he spits up or drools.

I keep extra diapers and wipes in his daycare diaperbag just incase of any accidents on the drive to drop him off.

Same with us. Well... ok not really now that I think about it. Chris stays in bed with Athan - both of them sleeping - while I get up to start getting ready at 6:00 am. Athan and I are out the door a little before 7 am every day - all I have to do to him is change his diaper, dress him, and brush his hair, all while he is still asleep! Lucky boy!

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

I leave before Lily wakes up, so I don't have to worry about her at all!
And I shower the night before, so all I do in the morning is get dressed, pee, drink coffee, put contacts in, brush my teeth, put on makeup, get lunch and go. It takes about 20 minutes for me to get out of the house.

I need to start carrying wipes with me. I always have a smudge on my shirt from DS in the morning.

I am horrible here in Texas

I take showers at night (always have)
We wake AJ up around 6:45-7:00am.
Which means WE wake up around 6:45-7am.
If she wakes up earlier we put her on the floor and let her walk around the house and play.

He usually changes her diaper while I prep her bag for daycare and pull out clothes for the day if necessary, but always I pick out her socks and shoes.

We are out the door by 7:05-7:10
We take turns watching her as the other puts on jeans/tshirt/sneakers, brush our teeth and for me I put my contacts in and give a quick brush of the hair (ponytails are awesome). She can drool, spit, snot, cough or sneeze all over us at this point.

We drop her off and we're back in our apt by 7:30 (during school season).
He goes back to sleep for 20mins.
I get online or have breakfast after cleaning AJ's room (yep every morning)
He wakes up at 7:50 and showers and gets ready.

I START to get ready at 8:10am
We carpool so we are out the door together at 8:15-8:20am

So 5mins to brush my hair, put on a shirt, slacks, socks and watch.

Chat Icon I gave up on make up years ago (after college) and never went back to it.

Both of us have to be at work at 8:30

I get to work at 8:25, he gets to work at 8:30 Chat Icon

Re: Question for Working Moms in the morning

I'm lucky in that DH doesn't leave for work until 8:30/9:00 and I have to leave the house by 7:30. So while I'm getting ready for work, he gets DD ready for daycare and she's ready when I'm ready to walk out the door.

I'm still always a hot mess though! Chat Icon
