Question for working moms of toddlers

All of a sudden DS (20 months), has become very attached to me. This started a few weeks ago. Up until recently he was all about dadda, but not anymore...not its all about me!!! While i am very flattered and love it....i find it extremely difficult to leave for work in the morning...DS becomes clingy right before i have to leave and ends up crying when i walk out the door..i feel soooo bad for him. Does this get easier????? Do your DC cry when you leave? I only work 3x a week, and don't mind working, but i feel so bad about leaving my DS. I have such anxiety in the morning over this now..its stinks.

It might just be a phase Chat Icon For me personally, I leave before he wakes up but on the rare occasions he sees me first, sometimes he acts like I'm going off to war never to return, other times, it's see ya mommy Chat Icon

Re: Question for working moms of toddlers

DD became very clingy to me when I was pregnant and it hasn't really stopped now that DS is born.

I'm guessing it must be a phase and they must grow out of it at some point.

DD doesn't cry when we drop her off though, she holds my hand and I have to transition her to something fun before I leave the room. Lately, it's playing doctor with the stethoscope they have.

This seems to be cyclical. I work full time, and my DS is usually fine with me going, but goes through weeks here and there where he is super clingy and its hard to leave....Chat Icon

Re: Question for working moms of toddlers

Jacen has always had mommy separation anxiety on and off since he was born. Chat Icon

But lately things have been really good where i could leave for work with no problems. I'd say "give mama a kiss" and he'd run over to kiss me. Then he'd run away and not cry. Even the same when i dropped him off at the sitters twice a week. It was great. Chat Icon

But now as of 4 days ago... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon. All he wants is mommy!!!! He won't even let my dh do anything. The other night he was trying to push dh out of the rocker when it was book time before bed. Now if dh tries to do anything with him and i'm around, he freaks!!!!

So it's back with a vengance this time! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
