Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
I am just trying to get together my must have list of items that are necessary before the baby arrives.
We do not do showers in my family, so everyone sends their gifts after the baby arrives. I am trying to stock up on all the immediate necessities I will need the first few days after the baby arrives.. Just incase I do not receive it from family and friends.
I know the hospital sends you home with a lot of items? Would you mind sharing??
Do they give you (pacifiers, diapers, bottles, blankets, onesies, nose aspirator, emery boards, etc... I was just curious on all these things if the hospitals send you home with anything)
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
We were given: nasal aspirator diapers (just the remainder of the pack that he was using) a bunch of Vaseline packets dry wipes an undershirt 2 hats (one was an elf hat since he was born on Christmas Eve)
I EBF so there weren't any bottles or formula - I do think if you plan to FF they will send you home with some
We also came prepared with onesies and receiving blankets, they probably would have given us some if we didn't already have them

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
Just take everything the hospital puts in the basinette every day! We took diapers, petroleum jelly, aspirator every day... They also gave us the little bottles of formula when we left. The most important were the diapers - Make sure you take them every night! My friend was our nurse and she said they expect you to take everything they put in the basinette

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
ours didnt give much:
an undershirt one cap the open pack of diapers we were using the open box of dry wipes we were using a similac strong moms backpack with a can of formula one pacifier two nasal aspirators two nipple sheilds one pack of gel nipple soothers
the only reason we got the pacifier though is b/c we begged our nurse the first night for one, and she had to go search for it. our hospital is *very* pro-breastfeeding, so policy is to not give out pacifiers or formula. honestly, i was shocked we got the similac bag! also, we were not allowed to take the blanket she was using, so dont count on having one to bring home.

All we got were diapers, wipes, RTF formula, and wash cloth wipes to bathe the baby.
And sample sizes of ointments and creams that we have never used.
I delivered at Columbia Presbyterian.

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
we got the Similac bag, a bunch more of the 2 oz nursers w/nipples, diapers, wipes, and I took a t-shirt. I should've taken a blanket - not because I needed it but because I feel nostalgic about it and wish I had it as a keepsake. We also got some lotions, shampoos, baby wash, a nasal aspirator, and tubes of vaseline. I think that's it...
ETA: no paci - but I also didn't think to ask for one. I introduced it to DD a couple days after we got home.

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
our ds ended up in the nicu for 10 days, so it wasn't like we could take stuff every night.....
they sent us home with..
1 nasal aspirators 3 small packages of size 1 diapers a bunch of Vaseline 1 hats (knitted, i think he got though because he was in the nicu) 2 blankets - (well they didn't give them to us, they say your not suppose to take the blankets with us, but we accidentally brought one home after a visit to the nicu for a feeding, then when he got released the nurse thought it was cold out so she let us have a bassisnet blanket to keep him warm) plenty of formula the individual ones and the nipples for it 2 pacifiers - the soothie ones & the diaper bag/formula can from the brrand you are starting on - note- they wouldnt give me the enfamil one in addition to the similac.
for the mom you can take home any of the pads that are left, your water bottle for your hooha, the numbing cream, numbing spray, sitzbath, eggcrate to sit on. lanisoh they only gave me a couple of packets. the tubing and shield for pumping which I started there. also they have gel pads to help heal the nips.
eta- this was winthrop

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
DS was in the NICU for 5 days (Stony Brook).
We got -1 nasal aspirator -vasoline samples and gauze for circ. care -2 soothie pacifiers -about 10 mini formula bottles (not reusable; the ready to feed type) and a diaper bag w/ samples from enfamil -the remainder of the diaper pack he was using -1 crocheted blanket and hat (for NICU only) -no side snap shirts or flannel blankets, and they asked that no one take them--apparently thousands are stolen each year and it costs the hosital a great deal to replace them -stuff for me (creams, etc)

The nurse that was assigned to me told me the same thing. I emptied out my basinette every day and she refilled it for me. She told me that the hospital expects you to do that
we went home with: several nipples a about 12 RTE 2 oz formula bottles several snap shirts 2 blankets diapers 3 hats dry wipes 2 thermometers nasal aspirator and other stuff that I cant remember right now

Re: Question for you girls, What does the Hospital Send you home with??
a baby. they make you take them with you. Everything else differs by hospital- some are more generous than others. Mine just gave diapers, a few RTF formula nursettes- 2oz each- (with like the one time use nipples that come with it), comb, baby wash, petroleum jelly... i think that's all that was in the bassinet.
