Question regarding 3 day fruit/veggie rule

We delayed cereal to 5 months and just started veggies at 6 months. My question is, do you have to follow the 3 day rule with every single fruit and veggie? I mean, if I do that won't I be giving them single ingredients for like the next 2 months? How long did it take you to get through them all? Did you only do the three day rule with some and then introduce others later on?

So far they have had butternut squash and carrots. Tomorrow is avocado. I have apples, acorn squash, and sweet potato in the freezer, and banana, mango, peas, green beans, pears and peaches ready to be made and frozen this weekend. Right there that is like a month of single ingredients and it's not even everything. Then I start meats which the ped wants us to do at 7 months. It seems like not enough time?

You are supposed to continue the 3 day rule with anything new...you can mix the new thing with things they have had before...I will not lie after a while I stopped following the 3-day ruleChat Icon

Ditto! Every package comes in 2 and we started only giving half so that meant only two days or four. The first month I did the 3/4 day rule then when I saw he wasn't getting any reaction it was whatever I find in the cabinet Chat Icon

I still follow the 3 day rule with Colin - he's 7 months and on solids for a couple months now, and has only had maybe 10-12 fruits/veggies.
Maybe I'm more anal about it, but I do follow it - and I don't follow many "rules" with my 2nd child Chat Icon
I keep a running list taped inside my cabinet so I know what he has tried.

I did the 2 day rule haha I gave DS the new food once for lunch than dinner and than lunch or dinner the next day. That way he was getting variety with breakfast and lunch but once he mastered the basic foods we just went crazy and all the rules went out the window
