Questions on Child Safety Seats
I would like to intoduce myself as a Child Passenger Safety Technician in Nassau County. I was directed to this site as one that expecting parents, new parents, and oldtimers like myself discuss different topics.
Child Passenger Safety is an important topic and I would like to start a discussion on this with others.
Pleas ignore prior posts by this poster as it was made prior to knowing the proper use of a site like this.
I hope this new Subject posting will start discussion on a positive note. Have a great day all.

I responded in the BundleMe thread, but briefly: Welcome! It's good having other guys on this site.
This thread is definitely a much better intro than your other threads....

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
Hi,
Yes I do actually have a question that I was just discussing last night. I'm expecting baby #2 and was planning to use the infant seat I used for #1. It was purchased 3 years ago. We used it for several months and then moved her to a regular carseat. My question is whether it is safe to reuse the old infant seat. I know the "rule of thumb" is nothing over 5 years, but I just want to be sure that having this seat stored in the garage, being subject to heat and cold as the weather changed is not going to compromise the safety of the seat.
TIA!

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
Welcome and sorry about the drama in the other post! I do have a question: We have a Mazda CX9 and my parents have a Mercedes C class. Both cars have our convertible seat ( a Britax) in the middle. Is this correct? This is my dilemma- I am terrified of having my DD's seat on one side or the other because what if we are in an accident where we get hit on that side. I just don't know which is worse.. could you tell me if its ok for the seat to be a middle (with latch) and if not why? Could the seat fly off?

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
I have a question also!
It's actually regarding my cousin and aunt...
My aunt has her grandson (my 2nd cousin) every weekend....
She has his booster in her car.
He is 5 years old, and quite a tall boy.
His booster is in the middle seat.... I think that it's unsafe there....
Please tell me... Is that considered safe? There is no latch on this seat (Not sure if it's on any booster seat).

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
YAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYY!!!! Welcome!!!!!!! Thank you SO MUCH for your time!!!!!
I have a question as well - I have a 2009 Nissan Murano and we have the Evenflo Triumph convertible car seat behind the passenger seat, using the LATCH system. Is that where the seat should be or is the middle safer? THANK YOU!!!!!

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
Thank you and welcome.
Forgive me if this has been asked but is the middle seat the safest seat for an infant/child?
How much of a risk do sideairbags pose?
Thank you for reaching out to us.

Re: Questions on Child Safety Seats
Welcome!!
I'm pretty sure I took my carseats to you to be checked!!! I had no idea the latch clips on my Marathon were upside down when I moved it from rear-facing to forward facing!
Definitely very informative and helpful!

TIA!
The seat should be fine, but my concern is more about the cover and straps. Inspect them for mold or mildew. That may be a major problem if present.
Take a visual look at the seat, but again, as long as it was not dropped each time you opened the garage or used as a foot stool, It should be ok.

my infant seat did grow some mold on the straps but I cleaned them with vinegar, and they are all nice and clean....is it ok to use it again?
