Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
I was in early labor when I was admitted and given pitocin. I had regular contractions every 3-5 minutes but I couldn't feel them. My water broke naturally in the hospital after 10 hours.
It was a pop feeling and a gush. It kept gushing with each contraction.
No, didn't freak out at all. I started to feel the pain then so I started prepping myself for what's to come.
Contract first.
I was in active labor, although it was sped up by pitocin. It got really painful after the water broke.

Me!
It woke me up at 5:22am as I was sleeping. I felt a small gush. I got up and went to the bathroom b/c I thought I peed myself. But it was pretty obvious it was my water breaking.
I was only 36.5 weeks, called the doctor, they told me to come in to be checked, they had to induce me.
I used a maxi pad and sat on a towel in the car. But it wasn't a terrible amount coming out.

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
Broke on it's own for baby #1 only.
Where were you? home on my couch after dinner (luckily I had left work slightly earlier that day or else that time I could have been on the LIRR - my biggest fear)
Gush or Trickle? trickle, trickle, gush (by then I was at the toilet though)
Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening? was in denial esp since I was 3 weeks early
Did you contract first or break water first? water break first
How soon after did active labor start? I'd say shrtly after mild contractions and within 30minutes-hour later they got stronger on my way to the hospital (had strep b so had to go straight to the hospital)
What did you do on your way to the hospital? loaded up on pads and sat on towels in the car just in case but the first big gush happened before I left at the toilet, a second gush happened when the dr went to check out how far along I was...poor dr....

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
Where were you? asleep on the couch at 6 am - Woke to a big POP noise.
Gush or Trickle? and it was just gushing like someone turned on the garden hose! (he was breech, so his head wasn't there to plug the flow)
Did you freak out or just think, okay this is happening? Knew he was coming in less than 24 hours!
Did you contract first or break water first? No contractions at all.
How soon after did active labor start? Never went into labor. I went to hospital after calling my doc, showering, etc. He was born by c/s 3 hours later because he was still breech.
On the way to the hospital, I just stuck a dishtowel in my pants and sat on a plastic bag in the car. By then most of the water had come out.

2nd time: it didn't break until after she was born.
Was this a c-section?
No, children born vaginally can be born in the bag of waters. It called being born in the caul- it is an old wive's tale that is brings good fortune to the child.
My DS was born in the caul. It was actually pretty cool.

Re: Raise your hand if your water broke naturally. *New Question Added!*
I was 10 days past EDD and layed down to go to bed. Not even 5 min later felt like a peed myself but that was defnitely not the and it wasn't a gush or a trickle. It was a little more than a trickle at first and then it just kept coming out. Contractions came on hard and fast about an hour after that and it was whirlwind from there. DD born less than 12 hrs from water breaking.
