Hah! I have to laugh bc my dad is one of the suckers who bought that program for DD. We just got it in the mail last week (Baby Can Read)
To get back to the real issue though, I would be breaking all ties with your friend ASAP. She s u c ks. She has a lot of nerve. Real friends don't make you cry.

Honestly, she doesn't sound like much of a friend to me. And you don't need to feel guilty about your choices as a parent. Incidentally, I agree with you on both fronts. bFing is great, but your health is crucial to your child's welfare also, and if you are on meds that DC should not be exposed to, you should not breastfeed. I hate when people push it so blindly and overzealously.
I will not be using any early reading systems with my son either. We read to him regularly and often, and that honestly, is plenty. He isn't going to benefit from a system, most of them are a waste of money, and it's also not good to put so much pressure to excell on such young children.
Your friend is making me annoyed, and I don't even know her! My thought with friendships is that they should be supportive and helpful to me and friends should accept me as I am,at least most of the time. If a friend is actively trying to make me feel guilty, that person is not a friend, and I don't need them in my life.
