Really gross question about mucus plug. Enter at your own risk.

How um, "big" or how much mucus is it supposed to be?? I just went to the bathroom and wiped, and there was a pinkish/brownish glob-- probably about a little less than 1/4 cup, 2 tablespoons, etc... sorry, that's the only way I can explain how much it was. Chat Icon

Now, I had an internal yesterday, and I know to expect some bloody discharge after-- which I had yesterday afternoon, then it was pretty much back to normal from late afternoon into the evening.

So, am I *starting* to lose my mucus plug, did I actually *lose* it OR is it just the loss of *some* of it from the internal???? I know if it's not really ready to go, it will regenerate to protect the baby.

Sounds like your plug. That's exactly how it started for me - it came out in globs over a couple of days and then I went into labor Chat Icon

I seriously just had a mini-anxiety attack after reading your response. As much as I am ready, I mean... am I READY?

I know it doesn't mean I will have the baby today, tomorrow or even a week from today-- but, it means it is REALLY close. I'm scared!!!

hey randella, around 36 weeks, i lost most of my mucous plug..it started after an internal, and then lil by lil more and more stuff would come out over a few days...but like you said, i wasnt ready yet..and it regenerated..the day before i was induced, i lost a literally golf ball sized thing of grossology (tmi sorry) it was TREMENDOUS and gross..lol..i was induced the next day cause of low fluid fluid, but im sure i wouldve went on my own in a few days..
good luck!!

should I cancel my plans for today? Chat Icon

I was just joking last night that we have a family dinner on Fri night, for MIL and DH's birthday-- and I said to my MIL, well, maybe I won't see you... But then again, I will see you-- just not at the restaurant!

ok-- I just found a description on the American Pregnancy site that described the amount of the MP should be 2 tablespoons, which is exactly how I described it. So, I guess it was the right amount!

It actually came out on the toilet paper, so my undies were spared!

But, yes-- it looked a lot like what it looks like when I blow my nose in the morning... lots of mucus, little bit of blood.

Sounds like you're so close Randi!!!!

I spoke to Jill last night and she was asking about you since she hasn't been online. She's VERY excited to get your text when you're on your way!

I have like way too much to do if this baby plans to make an appearance soon.

I am supposed to see some friends today, but I think I should take the day to finish taking care of stuff!

I really wonder when this is going to happen Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I lost my plug, within the hour water broke and a half hour later Ryan was here!
But I've heard for some it doesn't happen that quickly - but it's def. a sign that your body is preparing for your little one to enter the world!! Chat Icon

Re: Really gross question about mucus plug. Enter at your own risk.

It's so hard to gauge what's happening-- it's been over 2 hours since, so something happening really fast is just not happening.

You guys are freaking me out that it can happen so fast-- but, then again-- it really can mean that nothing is happening too quickly.

But considering I was 1 to 2cm dilated yesterday, and the loss of the plug today... who knows?! Ugh, I HATE that you can predict anything!
