Re: Recommend your SUV or crossover...no mini vans please

I have an Acura MDX. It is a nice SUV and rides really well. However, once you put the 3rd row up there is not a lot of trunk space and the 3rd row area is not roomy and I probably wouldn't put car seats there. Also, once you put two car seats in the 2nd row, it's really hard to get to the third row. So soon we're going to most likely be getting the Yukon. A friend of ours just got it and it is nice and roomy. I'm pretty sure she paid around $50k maybe a bit more but she did get most (if not all the options).

We have an 06 BMW X3--we are turning it in in May but we love it! Its just a little too much per month for us. There is def room for 2 car seats and it drives like a dream. I never want another car but a BMW.

We are also looking at the GMC Terrain just to lower our monthlys

With your budget, I'd go for a nicely equipped GMC acadia or buick enclave :)

If I had the money I'd go with the Cadillac crossover...that car is awesome.

I have the Ford Edge and I love it. I also had the Ford Escape...love the new body style to it!

Take a look at the new crossover from Honda...the crosstour. That thing looks nice too.

Oh yea...the Lexus RX...how could I forget? Another one on my list I probably can't afford.Chat Icon

There are a million nice SUV's. I think no matter what you go with (Acura, Infiniti, Nissan, Honda, whatever) you are going to be happy.

However, and this has to be said, my Mom a few years ago was looking at SUV's. I talked her into test driving the Mercedes ML350 and, hands down, it is unlike anything I've ever seen, driven, rode in, etc. It was UNBELIEVABLE. And the safety - just amazing. What a beautiful car. If your budget allows it, which you stated it does, that would be the one.

I would get it in a heartbeat.

Just DRIVE it and you'll see. Chat Icon

See I love, this. Never drove it though. DH does not like it and thinks it's too small.

on a serious note James

You know I love the Chevy Tahoe.
Frank was in the '95 when we helped Liza at Abby's party and thought it was nice.
I had that truck for 10 years and close to 200K miles!

I just got a 2005 2 months ago and it's awesome.

It has the 3rd row available and they last forever!

Great truck.

How is this on gas?

We have a Land Rover LR3. I'd highly recommend it. It's not snazzy looking from the outside but I like a more "rugged" SUV. You may even have room in your budget for rear seat entertainment - which we love for long car rides.

We compared with a Chevy Tahoe and we got a lot more for the same price with the Land Rover. At the time the Chevy dealers we tried weren't negotiating at all but the LR dealer was.

We also compared with BMW but that was too small. Not enough trunk and not enough leg and head room for my DH.

We have the Chrysler Aspen & are very happy with it.

The 3rd row is comfortable unlike other SUV's I've seen where the 3rd row is pretty much the trunk.

We have a 2008 Mazda CX9.. I cannot say enough about this car. It has 7 passenger seating so my trunk is huge when it's down.. and tons of space in our back and front seat.
The car gets great reviews, which is why we went with it!

SIL has a Hyundai Veracruz and she loves it. I've driven it and it drives great but that's all I know about it.

We have a Tahoe and hate it. It's an '08 and it didn't age well, thank god the lease is up soon. We do like the fact that it goes into 4 cylinder mode when on the highway so the gas mileage isn't bad. Had a Tahoe before this one as well and DH couldn't wait to get rid of it. He was hoping the newer models were better and the price was right.

We have a Volvo XC90. Enough room for two and it has a great safety rating.
Been checking out the Audi Q5/Q7 but leaning to the Q7 but we'll see how that works out.

Test drive as many as you can...

We bought the 2010 Honda Pilot this summer and I love it. It has 3 rows with room still in the trunk. We got the Touring model which has everything in it and added rear entertainment and it was less than $40k. The backseat has a lot of leg room and we couldn't be happier.

Re: Recommend your SUV or crossover...no mini vans please

I just rented the Chevy Traverse for a business trip and really liked it. It was fully loaded, heated seats, the works. I think it only had 2 seats in the middle.
Drove nearly 350 miles in 24 hours and the AWD handled the road great in the Wisconsin snow.

Recently also driven the Equinox and the Dodge Journey.

I have been doing quite a bit of driving at work and the Traverse was my favorite.
