Recovery from C Section

I am due with twins in a few weeks and am planning on having a c section. What can I pick up now from the drug store that I will need for recovery at home? I know everyone is different but how long is recovery? Will I be able to hold my babies?

You'll probably be sent home with a prescription for pain killers if you still feel you need them. Sometimes by the third or fourth day motrin is all you'll need. I was walking around slowly on my own the next day and by a week after I was back to normal, except for getting out of bed, that took a little longer to get back to normal. You should be able to hold your babies right away with no issues. My twins were in the NICU so they were different but when I had my DD 8 weeks ago I was holding her a couple hours after she was born.

Re: Recovery from C Section

I held my babies right after I was taken out of the operating room, so like 30 minutes or so after they were delivered.

As for stuff to have at home I don't think you will need medical stuff per se, but it was good to have some motrin on hand and honestly just having food readily accessible as I could not fathom cooking or like chopping up stuff for a fruit salad. Having that around made it a lot easier

I was up & about the next day also. It hurt like hell to get up & down but by day 4 of getting out of hospital I was fine. It is major surgery & scary...but most people are ok within 2 weeks. Good Luck girl, your babies are almost here.
