Replacing a fence question...

We have an old wood fence in our backyard that was put up the wrong way (the good side facing us). We want to replace the fence soon...can we keep it the same way, with the good side facing us or do we have to change it?

You are supposed to put the good side out. We have a wood stockade fence so both sides look the same.

Your fence, do what you want. I never understood the idea of giving your neighbor the good side of the fence. I paid a lot of $$ for my fence..... *I* want to look at the nice side! Chat Icon

Fence facing the road, I would always put nice-side out, facing the street.

When we were getting estimates we were told that the code in our town stipulates that you have to put the good side out.

Thats normally the case if you have a pool so kids cannot climb up over the bars on the bad side of the fence and get into your pool.

So, could I give my neighbor the money to buy and install the fence, so *they* would have to put the good side out? Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

On my current fence, the "good" side is facing the neighbor, but it's getting old, so I just bought new fence and put it on my side of the posts. Now, both sides are the "good" side....

Well, home depot has wood fence for 12 dollars a section. So we're really not breaking the bank...Chat Icon
