Returning a leased car
The lease is up this week on my car. Do I have to take the plates to the DMV myself or does the dealer usually deal with this?

When we returned DHs lease, we had to return the plates to the DMV ourselves. We didn't get another vehicle from them, so I'm not sure how it works if you are getting another. I'd assume the dealer would transfer the plates for you in that case, but I'm not sure.

I returned a lease in March. We returned the plates to ourselves to the DMV since we were not registering another car. My dealer doesnt' return the plates.

I am not leasing another from them or anyone else. I will just have to make arrangements to get to the DMV.

remember you can't cancel your insurance until you return the plates and get the green paper to fax to the ins co

yes, that's right. Geico took the green receipt number from me over the phone so it was even easier!
