Re: Roosevelt Field Mall and Santa
I also don't get the argument from the Christian side. If you are so worried about keeping Christ in Christmas and the TRUE religious meaning of the holiday, then Santa should play NO role in it. It should be a nativity scene. It should have baby Jesus. Not Santa, elves, a Christmas tree. Those are secular symbols of Christmas- not religious.

Did anyone ask kids what they thought?
Honestly, all these adults at each other's throats for something geared primarily toward children.
I think Santa could be on a park bench and kids wouldn't care about lack of decorations or WHAT they called the tree. They would either be overjoyed that Santa was there, or scream in terror like my kid.
Someone on here used the word "pussification" and I thought that doesn't seem to be appropriate language to use for a conversation about Santa Claus.
That was me. And I didn't call Santa it or used it even I. Regards to that
I used it to describe how everything in this world bees days has to be PC. Nobody can say anything without offending someone
And as for appropriate language did you not call anyone who had a opinion about changing the scene shallow? How is that Christmas spirit like.

How is it Christmas spirit like for people to perpetuate falsehoods and blame Jews, Muslims or any other religion as being the ones behind this change when it's completely proven to be untrue? How is it Christmas spirit like for people to say, if you don't like our country get out? How is it Christmas spirit like for you to say our country is becoming pussified and that everyone has their panties in a bunch? The only people with their panties in a bunch are the ones who are so up in arms by a freaking mall Santa!

I didn't blame anyone. I didn't tell anyone to get out
I said that was a butt ugly display and didn't seem Christmas to me
And bc I shared that article all I have been told is that I'm petty and stupid and I have no idea what else is going on in the world and I'm not grateful For anything that I have.
And yes I do think our country has it's panties in a bunch. Everything offends everyone.
How does that have anything to do with my Christian beliefs?
And from This entire bread the people who were upset are not the only ones with their panties in a bunch???

You guys are really dense.
I was upset because the display was changed over people being "offended" by Christmas.
I am accepting of other cultures and religions which is WHY I am upset about how they changed the display. It's mind boggling how lame people are nowadays. The PC bull**** and whatnot.
Years ago, you could be a Republican and a Democrat and be best friends. Nowadays, people unfriend people over this crap. It's ridiculous.
Nowhere in my statement am I not being accepting of other people. I did mention though that "liberal" America probably created this. As they are up in arms over the Pledge of Alegience, holidays, Mount Rushmore, In God We Trust and other things. It's so absurd and ridiculous how people are today and easily offended over every little ridiculous thing.

I can't believe people care enough about all this. There are plenty of traditional santas out there at malls closer to most of our houses.
Caring about a santa display that I would never go to even before the "scandal" is so low on my list of what I need to worry about.
I will celebrate the holidays as I always do and what malls, stores etc do have zero baring on how I live my life.
I think society today just wants a scandal and wants to get offended by every little thing.
ITA with this. The outrage is pretty funny to me actually. It is a mall Santa display!!!!!!!!!

But it was not changed because someone was offended and that's what I and many others on this thread are saying. Just because someone's cousin's best friend's ex-husband's Doctor heard it from their hairdresser whose friend worked in the food court for a week, doesn't make it true. So most people are up in arms over a rumor. Sure it was butt ugly and stupid looking and now it's gone. And yes, it is ridiculous how people are easily offended over every little thing, like a Christmas display in a mall, which actually did happen.

Yooo hoooooooo... It's a discussion board! For those who think it's shallow to have an opinion or to discuss matters trivial or otherwise, go do your "more important things" and leave the "shallow" discussions to us. Because clearly you're off worrying about more important things and you're not online on a SOCIAL message board.

And on top of that, I really wouldn't consider daily mail a great source of information. They're a tabloid.
But it's on the Internet so its true.

Andplusalso it's the Daily Mail. Great for celeb gossip, but real stories don't exist in this paper.
This whole thing is ridiculous. Don't like the Santa display? Don't go. Don't like Starbucks red cups? Don't drink it.
People need to relax. No one is taking Xmas away. Do whatever it is you do with your families.
