longwood-PASSED.
Our budget always passes even though we have the highest population of Seniors in Suffolk County. I don't have kids in the district, but the increase would have to be HUGE for me to vote no. I can't see how anyone feels good about their budget being voted down.
If you don't like how the money is being spent, get involved, run for the board of ed or a position in the PTA.
Just voting no only hurts the kids.

It hurts the entire area. People don't realize that if they vote no, and "save" $100-$200 a year in taxes, their house value will probably drop several tens of thousands of dollars. People don't like to buy houses in neighborhoods that have austerity school budgets. House prices are dropping as it is, nobody needs to make it drop further.....

Also, what often happens, is when sports and extra-curricular activities are canceled, the kids have nothing to do after school but wander the neighborhood, usually indirectly bothering the same people who voted down the budget....
There is no upside to voting no on a school budget.....

Yes, couldn't have said it better.

Oh, and if you vote no the contingency budget is still an increase over the previous year, so your taxes will still go up.

If you want change or more information go to school board meetings. The budget is public record.

Regardless of the tax implications, I would vote no in the hopes that people would begin to wake up to the absurdity of how our school budget is spent. Chat Icon

Having several friends and family members working in my district, the first hand knowledge I have on this subject is disgusting.

Hey thanks for sharing your opinion! Did you actually get out in vote and put a say in? Do you attend board meetings and speak?

Wantagh's failed. I think people didn't realize how much interest the huge bond that was approved last year would accrue each year and how much our taxes would continue to increase.

I'm sure it will be just like last year - people were really annoyed with how large the increase was and the unnecessary items that were included - like the press box for the football field and artificial turf field they wanted to get a huge bond for - it failed, they broke it up into 3 separate items to vote on during the revote to see which part people didn't support and it all passed. I can't believe Wantagh was the only district in Nassau that failed.

Our district passed.

Pat-Med failed.

I always have a hard time voting yes to a budget when the said school district misappropriated 30 million dollars 2 years before.

But, it will go back up again and pass. It always does.

My taxes went up $60.00 per month from last years approval. I am NOT doing it again... They are not cutting anything, they were adding a lot of useless programs. The names of the 4 or 5 programs interlapped. meaning the programs were:
1- Health Ed
2- Introducing health to children
3- health and how it helps you...

CRA# like that. There is no way that these programs were even real!

I have two small children, not in school yet, i am PAYING FOR THEM to go to nursery school. If they told me they were opening up the district for smaller children to go to pre-k, nursery classes, do you think i would have voted "NO?"

Lindenhurst voters have had enough. Isn't $60.00 a month enough?? next year it would be the same. sry.

Look at levittown - - $140,000.00 for a new office for Dr. Sirois? C'mon people, they are up to no good just like every other politician. They misuse the money. just like a previous poster said. It's corruption.

PLUS, in the proposed budget, $150,000 of that was to "repair" the Pat-Med superintendent's office. COME ON!

I voted NO for Pat-Med. I would LOVE to get my hands on their accounting paperwork and really show them all the stuff they are mis-spending.

By the way, I know some Pat-Med employees (family and friends) that vote No. There's a kicker for you. Just shows that some of them don't even have hope in what the district does with it's money.
