Im torn, b/c i definately have the same tendancy as kristin, but then (and i guess especially w/ DH) i can be selfish at times, but i think thats much more seldom than the other

YES!
However, I have spent sooooooo much of my life worrying about others and doing things for others that I am trying to be a little selfish these days. This is the first time in my life that I am doing good things for myself, and just focusing on being happy with DH.
I do feel bad about it, but overall I am happier and healthier.

I don't consider myself selfish, but I've been called selfish by some people (mostly family members) when I don't do what they want me to do. I used to geel really guilty about it, since I'm such a "people pleaser". Then I bought a book called "The Art of Selfishness" by Ayn Rand. Sometimes, being selfish isn't such a bad thing. I also read "Games People Play, by Eric Berne, and that cleared up a lot of the dysfunctional stuff my family tries to pull. You should do what's right for you and DH. The "issues" belong to the other person to deal with.

My mother called me selfish the whole time I was growing up.
I do think I am selfish at times, but I also think at times I am not and try to please everyone else. A big example, my wedding, I tried to make everyone else happy and things eaiser for them. Boy do I regret that, I wish I was selfish, it was my wedding to enjoy.

I could have written that exact line. My mom always said that I was selfish, yet I feel like I spend so much time putting others' needs before mine. I guess I can be selfish at times though.

sometimes I am but for the most part I have gotten better over the years. I feel I was more selfish in certain ways when I was younger (in my early 20's especially)
