We did the smores for my baby shower and actually we did the mason jars for my SIL's bridal shower.
For the smores- I ordered vintage looking tags from a vendor on Etsy which came with twine to tie the tags on. Picked up little cellophane bags from Michaels. They were a big hit!

i just want to spend as little as possible, and put most of my budget twds the baby instead

i like the nailpolish idea but essie is $6 a bottle. for that price, i can get a "bigger" ( size matters to old greek women) favor. and just do chocolate lollipops myself as an edible favor.
unless yoou know of a place that sells essie for less?
was also thinking of doing bottles of wine with custom labels? or champagne??

OMG Kathy....I just saw this and was about to answer. I'm so glad that you use the cute umbrella I gave out as favors at my first shower!! =) LOL, I was going to recommend that.
You would be surprised, the Greeks like something NEW and unique and the edible favor is a wonderful idea! I love the honey idea, the glyko tou koutaliou, and olive oil idea (as long as its Kalamata) Last shower I went to they gave out the homemade chocolate lollipops and cupcakes wrapped up in very cute boxes (went to a few Greek showers and they did this). You could give a small pot of vasiliko or something if you want to go with that flowerpot idea. Or natural soap, one like chamomile or lavender scented like they have in Greece? wrap it in toule and put a piece of lavender as a decorative accent.
