Side Effects coming OFF BCP?
Hi ladies...
Just recently went off BCP - going to watch my cycles for about 2 mos and then start TTC.
I have 1 DD who is 9 mos old....I forget but remember having some annoying side effects last time I went off BCP...can you ladies all share anything that you felt was a side effect from stopping the pill.

Skin is horrible-Breaking out everywhere & my cramps a day prior to AF coming are worse.
On the brighter side my sex drive has increased a alot.

The major thing I remember was that my 2nd and/or 3rd cycle off BCP was really, really long. It's been a few years since I stopped taking it, so I know I'm forgetting a lot.

Mine was too last time and that's why I am really nervous/2nd guessing the waiting 2 mos to start TTC.
When I conceived my 1st DD...I ovulated on cd53!!!!! That was my 4th cycle off I think...but I went 100+ days with no AF prior to that cycle...had to take provera and then O'd on cd53. My first 3 cycles off were all normal for me....6 weeks long.
I am in my 1st cycle off BCP now - I am using the fertility monitor just to try to learn what my cycles will do this time around (i had the monitor and sticks from last time so I figured I may as well start using it)...and I couldn't even believe it...I got Peak fertility on a really normal day...cd 16 and 17 (today). So of course I'm 2nd guessing the waiting....what if I don't O regularly in 2 mos when we want to start TTC.
Sorry for over-sharing...it's just such a guessing game when you don't have regular cycles. My DH was ready to TTC last night but I do not want my kids 1.5 yrs apart...for some reason I want them at least 22 mos apart - hence my waiting to start TTC until DD turns a year old.
But I will  if my cycles start getting longer and longer and I don't O as often when we are ready to start trying.

It's crazy...and I O'd or am about to (are you more in the mood when you are ovulating?) and last night I was SO in the mood! DH was sick though and we do want to wait a few mos to TTC so I stayed away from him.

I'm in the middle of my first cycle off BCP and my skin freaked out in the beginning. Also, I had a couple of days were I felt a bit nauseous. Other than that, I feel pretty normal. Just hoping my cycles are regular!

ugh horrible. i learned that i have PCOS, so I dont know what was causing it but my skin broke out, I gained 7 very stubborn pounds (i think that was pcos), my boobs were never as sore as they were right before AF, i was super emotional. on the upside, my sex drive increased!

 I don't know if it's a proven fact but I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I've had some of my raunchiest dreams right before I'm about to O.

Stick with your original plan.  There is no guarantee that what happened last time you came off BCP will happen again. If you feel strongly about not conceiving right now then wait.
At least this time you can be more aware of potential issues and not wait to see a doctor if you need to.

This is my 2nd cycle of BCP and so far I have awful skin, really emotional and extremely short AF (like a day and a half long)

Thanks for this...I hope my cycles don't get crazy like last time. I do feel strongly about not conceiving right now - feel like DD is still such a baby and want to just enjoy my time with her a little more before I get pregnant.

Totally agree 100%! As soon as I got off BFP I started breaking out like crazy, I was soooo upset! Ive been off BCP for about 7-8mths now and the acne is not that bad anymore but def. worst then when I was on BCP. AF cramps are horrendous and my flow is much heavier. But on the plus side my side drive has increased a lot which I am very happy for

i had positive side effects --- on BCP I ws so emotional and would cry at anyting..... as soon as I went off my emotions got in check

the worst part for me was the cramps with the 1st period after going off BC. They really were horrendous. I think I got a few migraines but after the first period I was fine.
