This is from Rich Hoffman news12 weather guy on fb...
"No roads are closed. The Governor said "possible".. There is no time table when or if they will be closed."

I also like this update on his page. It gives a better timeline that I haven't been able to find on newsday, news 12 etc as to WHEN it will really start. Seems to be AFTER 7 pm. So I doubt they will close any roads at 4 pm.....

An inch or so of snow through 5pm. Windy. Winds Northeast 10-20 gusts to 30 mph. Highs near 34.
TONIGHT: BLIZZARD WARNING THROUGH FRIDAY 1PM. Moderate to heavy snow starts after 7pm.

I think the issue with closing the roads is that if it starts snowing at 4, and turns to blizzard/white-out conditions by 5, they will close them. That's kind of what happened last Feb...when it suddenly was snowing/accumulating massive amounts in a short time. So just bc it's all good now, doesn't mean it will be all good 2 hours from now.

I agree that making that statement about "possible road closures" last night was pointless. Someone needs to grow a pair and make a definite decision. If they close them, and nothing happens, they can always re-open them. If they actually prepared adequately for a blizzard, there would be no need for any of this in the first place.

But if they closed them for no reason every one here would be up in arms that they closed them for no snow. Plain and simple they will close them if the conditions warrant it and all we have to finis watch the news. They won't close in minutes unless there is a pile up.

Yes, that is a good point. If they closed them for nothing, people would freak out. I think they would've been better off not even making the announcement of a possibility of road closures.
