Re: So, Do You Boil Water Using Hot or Cold Water?

it depends.
if I am boiling for pasta- hot
if I am boiling with a food in it already- cold... if you put food in hot water to boil it doesn't cook evenly

I always use cold or room temperature water- never hot for some reason although you'd think that hot water would boil faster.

I was recently told by Long Island Water that you should always use cold water.

Re: So, Do You Boil Water Using Hot or Cold Water?

For some reason my father always told me as a kid to use cold water, so I still follow that Chat Icon I actually never even thought to use hot water to boil anything.

My chemistry teacher in college told us to never use hot water for cooking because the heat of the water is more likely to pick up crap from the pipes. He was a world renowned chemist so I decided to just take his advice.
