So Saturday my husband left me alone in our brand new house for 12 hours

after the sun went down I almost lost my mind

We have NO curtains...NO blinds...NOTHING and MANY windows.

I kept seeing a person where the large shrub in the front really was...I always anticipated some crazed man in a hockey mask to be standing outside another window when I threw a light on

and lets not forget the walking dead that came out of the cemetary across the street.

at one point I had to put something in the barn (classic Friday the 13th death moment)...I walked over there super slow and careful, opened the door, threw the stuff in and RAN LIKE HELL back to the house.

I am not meant for country living

in the spirit of fall chills and spills...what are YOU a skardy kat for?

That is hilarious! I was the same way the first night DH left me alone in our apt. I kept thinking I saw someone on the tearrace. Did I mention we live on the 19th floor of a doorman building in manhattan?

Ha, I had the same thing happen to me when we moved into our current home. Except I was petrified that there would be ghosts. I had to wait in our unfurnished home all day with just DD for the cable to be installed and because our house is from the 1800s - I was seriously freaking out!!! I left the front door wide open so that I could run out if I had to

I HATE being home alone, HATE it and I make sure that all the light are on in the house as well as the TV for background noise

i am totally with you!! especially after we first moved in...

DH worked nights and i was freaked out every night... i would run up the stairs thinking someone was behind me

then i always looked out the windows to make sure nobody was there...

its especially worse when you have the heat on in the winter because it makes all that crackling noises

Yea not having curtains is kinda scary at night b/c of the reflections. I can't even imagine what it's like out in a house like yours with lots of land.

We still have no curtains or blinds (even on our huge sliding glass doors) and we've been living in our house since June!

I don't mind being left alone, but I don't LOVE it altogether either.

I'm a huge chicken though when it comes to the dark in general!!

When I am home alone ALL the lights go on!

Ironically, I'm always nagging my DH to shut the lights off when we're home together b/c he's "wasting electricity"!

The same happened to me when we moved in. A racoon was at my side door!!

Dh keeps saying he will get an alarm system on the house, but he doesn't understand that ADT doesn't stop dead people.

I was like that too when I first moved in my house!!! I was on the phone the entire time, calling everyone I knew just to talk on the phone and have contact with another human being!!

Now, I have 2 big dogs, so being alone doesn't bother me, I'm never really alone!

I make one of the dogs (the German Shepherd) come in the basement with me when I go down to do laundry and DH isn't home.

Big frady cat.

I was the same way when we bought our house- and we are in the burbs with neighbors and street lights etc.

It was even worse cause hubby works nights so I was alone all night! I didn't sleep for the first few weeks.
Stayed up on the couch with the TV and lights on until dawn- then crawled into bed once it was light out!

You'll get used to it- if I did anyone can! I'm the biggest scaredy cat of all!!

I hate it when DH is out of town-which happens fairly often as he travels a few times a year for business.

I leave every light on-which probably makes it worse because then the boogie men and serial killers can see it and track my every move.

I would feel the same way....I saw the picture of your house....with all those windows!!

I still get scared in my own house and I've been here for 2 years.

At least you know not to fall down and scream if someone is chasing you slowly with a meat cleaver...

i hate staying home at night by myslef. i make sure all my doors are lock. n i sleep with the tv on and the hall light..only with my fh is with me can i sleep good!

i will be honest and say that i'm petrified of the dark..... we have to leave the bathroom light on when we go to bed - because if i have to get up and pee in the middle of the night - i'm always convinced there's someone in the hallway....

this was my other problem...that turning lights off an on would give away my position..

but I didn't want my first electric bill to be out of control

I was in our home in NC for a few MONTHS before DH moved down. I didn't have any window coverings for awhile (keep in mind, I live in 3 acres of scarey woods!). I made sure I watched alot of comedies!

our basement scares me, i get freaked out everytime i'm down there & run up the stairs as soon as i'm done doing the laundry

I still leave all my lights on at night and JT shuts them off when he gets home from work after midnight. My neighbors even commented on how my electric bill must be so high and what the heck am I doing up so late anyway?
