Socialization help for a 15 month old WWYD?
DS is 15 months tomorrow. I'm a SAHM and he isn't around kids very often. We took him to a party this past Saturday and there were 3-4 other kids. DS was like a hurricane. Throwing hissy fits, etc.
We are starting a Mommy & Me class in Sept but I'm scared he is going to be a terror. We have a very limited income so I dont think we can afford a class now but I think he actually could benefit from it now. There are no luxuries for us to cut out in order to afford classes now, but I feel he needs them.
WWYD?

The libraries have free classes...can you look into that? With the nice weather coming, he will interact with other kids at parks etc.. GTG's on here are always fun!

I would get on meet up or something like that and find a mom's group that you can hang out with.

Definitely go to the library. That was the 1st thing I did with my DS. He's 17 months now and we start another short session of a library playgroup this week. I'm a SAHM too and think DS has socializations issues - he gets overwhelmed and cries when he sees too many people all together. He's definitely getting better though, I just keep taking him to different classes, both library and little gym (which i now think is way overpriced). Look into libraries near you; also, the weather should get better soon and then you can start goign to the park.
ETA: just saw your other post - can you go to another library that's a little farther? If you are in Brooklyn then I definitely think things may get better once its park weather.

Re: Socialization help for a 15 month old WWYD?
have you tried finding a meetup group in your area that you can bring him to group dates on?
or how about a bounce u type place that has open sessions for a few bucks where he can be around other kids.
I take DS to a little play area at our mall thats free and lots of other little kids go to..is there anything near you like that?

DD is not around kids very often either and is very shy. My MIL watches her during the week so she's not exposed to many other people. I'm hoping when the weather gets nicer she'll get to socialize a little more at the park.
I know there is a Little Gym on 18th Avenue and a Gymboree in Bay Ridge/Dyker Heights. Maybe see if they have an 'open play' time where you can pay per visit. I've never been to either but I would think they have something like this.

Library classes - ours has a story time that is cute - but unfortunately I think most start around 18 months. In ours they read about 3 stories, do a couple of songs, bring out scarves, instruments, then show a little short video (about 6 mins long).
I would try the park - at our neighborhood park there are always kids there - I'm constantly meeting new parents and new children for my girls to play with. It is free and a good way to meet some local people then you can always arrange to meet up a specific time if you enjoy their company.

Hey aren't you in bay ridge? There is a bay ridge parents meetup that is very active. I honestly don't think mommy and me is woth the price, id invest in just open play places. We always meet other tots on the playground too. It may be wothwhile, packing him up and driving/busing to another hood with better library. I used to go to gerritsen beach library baby thing in brooklyn, its great lots of kids show up.
