Sooo.. How do you think Miley felt waking up the next morning?
I think she still felt rich. lol
I don't think she is whore in person or skank cause of that performance. Do I think she looked silly, yes. I just don't think everyone can be sexy. But as far as the moves.. a lot of the female artist perform like whores and look raunchy.
Rihanna to me seems more of a skank in person than Miley. Not everyone can be sexy.. she is one of them.

This is why I think it's so important to actually READ what you're listening too in the car with your kids instead of just bopping your head along, kwim?
Just my 2 cents and no one has to agree.
My Dh and I blast the song and sing and dance with our kids to it. It's a fun song. We love it. They love it. Just dancing to a fun song, nothing more, nothing less. Now, Rhianna's S&M song, I turned the radio off when that one came on. I had to dodge that song for months, couldn't wait for the radio to stop playing it.

And thats exactly right you can change the channel and you can choose to listen to something else if your that conservative. But lets not accuse an artist of condoning rape because you want to interpret the music that way. Because thats all it is your interpretation. And thats a very strong accusation. A word and an act not to be taken lightly or be thrown around...
Sooooo because I didn't do drugs or rub my vag up on a guy in da club I'm labeled conservative? F THAT NOISE!
I like the label of having "self repsect"
listen, is his song catchy? Absolutely. But if you really listen to the words it's not a nice song towards women. That's all I was saying. And furthermore, I'm not the only person on the planet earth to think his song is "rapey". Google it! Lets face it, it's the summers version of "baby it's cold outside" (say what's in this drink? I really must go....) <---- that's a joke
You're entitled to your "interpretation" of the song just like I am. Just don't come out caps lock blazin at me for having a different opinion.

My feelings exactly. I still say Miley's video was worse than her performance. Miley is having fun and loves the attention. I think she looks like a silly little girl but there are people who love it. Young girls will imitate this and probably already have. That's what bothers me. That's why I am so frustrated with her. I like the song a lot, but I don't listen to it anymore bc I don't want the girls to know the "new" her.

To me, Rihanna IS a walking std while Miley ACTS like a walking std. Either way, both are gross. Neither one has self respect. That's sad.

Sooo.. How do you think Miley felt waking up the next morning?
I posted in caps to differentiate between the copy and paste quotes i was using not because i was 'coming out caps blazing' like really? Hahahaha that actually made me laugh... I was on my phone and couldn't quote all the different posters comments.
Your posts about listening to jack johnson about love and peace and saying no one will tell me otherwise that blurred lines could possibly mean something else or be interpreted differently is what in my opinion makes you conservative and to add to it, closed minded to top it off. No one will tell you otherwise... this is whats wrong with the world. people close their minds and don't listen to the possibility that someone can have a different perspective about something.
Last i checked women are allowed to be sexual and have self respect!!!!
And drink. And maybe even smoke some pot if they choose to. Doesnt mean they have no self respect. It means they have choices and control of their sexuality and their life. Welcome to 2013.
And if thats his experience hes allowed to sing about it without being attacked. Im allowed to enjoy it as well. Again change the channel no problem. Thats whats wonderful about america we have freedom of choice. Change the channel. Turn the radio off. Or the tv. Im sure you hate howard stern too. Lol boy I must have no self respect because I adore Howard Stern, LOVE Blurred Lines, understand what Robin Thicke is trying to say in the song. Ive walked on the wild side and enjoy life to the fullest... I don't judge people who have done that or worse. I don't judge people who haven't. But its truly naïve to think that means a woman has no self respect.
I dont throw the word rape or rapey around lightly and i dont like when people do it. So your allowed to not like the song that's your opinion and I can respect that. WHat angers me and makes me lose respect is to throw the word rape around. Not just you but anyone who does it and anyone who spreads that. I just think it takes things way too far when people perpetuate the fact that the songs about rape... so yes the fact that anyone could compare a fun song to rape makes me sad and angry that this is what the world has come to. We cant sing about some naughty feelings or things weve done because someone wants to take and twist it. Because someone cant handle it and thinks they can control what is put out in the world. Don't be sexual. Your not allowed to have those feelings. Your not allowed to drink. or smoke.
And is why iIsaid common sense is dead in this world. Google the obituary of common sense.

I agree with this Mom's Blog. Bottom line she has no self respect for herself. She wants to be sexual active and experiment with drugs - go for it she's not my DD. Just don't tweet about your love of pot and your sexual escapades.
Her and Rhianna come off as desperate. Both need to gain some self repsect for their selves and bodies.
"Dear daughter, let Miley Cyrus be a lesson to you.
Yes, this is what happens when you constantly hear everything you do is awesome. This is what happens when people fawn over your every Tweet and Instagram photo. This is what happens when no responsible adult has ever said the word “no,” made you change your clothes before leaving the house, or never spanked your butt for deliberate defiance.
If you ever even consider doing something like that, I promise you that I will run up and twerk so you will see how ridiculous twerking looks. I will duct tape your mouth shut so your tongue doesn’t hangout like an overheated hound dog. I will smack any male whom you decide to smash against his pelvis – after I first knock you on your butt for forgetting how a lady acts in public.
Why would I do that? Because I love you and I want you to respect yourself. Miley Cyrus is not edgy or cool or sexy. She’s a desperate girl screaming for attention: Notice me. Tell me I’m pretty. See how hot I am. I know all the guys want me. All the girls want to be me.
You probably know girls who will emulate this behavior at the next school dance. Don’t do it with them. You are far too valuable to sell yourself so cheaply. Walk away. Let the boys gawk and know in your heart that they see only a body that can be used for their pleasure and then forgotten.
I’m sorry if you’ve ever felt sad because I haven’t gushed over everything you’ve done. My role is to praise when praise is due, but also to offer constructive criticism and correction when it is needed as well. I’m sorry if you’ve ever felt demoralized because your Instagram following isn’t in the thousands, and I’m sorry those “selfies” can never capture how amazingly beautiful you truly are. I’m sorry if you’ve ever wished you had a friend instead of a mom, and I promise you that I will probably get worse when you hit high school.
Dear daughter, I am going to fight or die trying to keep you from becoming like the Miley Cyruses of the world.
You can thank me later."

I am ALL for slamming the double standard. I think it's awesome when a woman owns her own sexuality and doesn't apoligize for taking what she wants -
But I don't really see that as what Miley is doing. Miley, is trying DESPREATELY to make pepole talk about her. Her performance wasn't sexy, it wasn't artsy, it didn't push the envelope or break barriers - She was just .......gross. There was no preparation for her performance - it was just go out there and walk around w/ your legs spread as wide as possible and .....do what? Stick your touge out (What is WITH that anyway?)
She can't sing, she can't dance, she can't do much of anything - She isn't captivating like Madonna was, she doesn't have a voice like Christina, she can't dance like Britney, she isn't 'strange' like Gaga w/ an awesome off the wall producer - WHAT is it about this girl that makes her ANYTHING special? b/c I see nothing - And for as much as I loathe Rihanna, I was laughing hysterically at the face she was making watching the Miley performance as if to say "WTF are you DOING?" The only thing she has is the fact that once upon a time she was a kid star .......and now she's not a kid anymore so it's like "HEY look at me!! I'm NO LONGER what you want your kids to watch!!" - and that's about all
THIS!! word for word.

Blasted = Inebriated (drugs or booze) blurred lines (taking advantage of a woman who is under the influence) I know you want it (yes means no) Flirty girl automatically means shes DTF?
What do they make dreams for When you got them jeans on What do we need steam for
She's dressed sexy so "she was asking for it"
Baby can you breathe? I got this from Jamaica It always works for me, Dakota to Decatur, uh huh No more pretending
Metaphor for pot...
I don't know, but when he was talking about blurred lines and saying I know you want me but you're a good girl and the "not many women can pass this by" I thought he was talking about a chick leading a guy on and teasing him and he's saying why she should get rid of her preppy, safe boyfriend and get with him. Blurred lines meaning the line between friends and fcuk buddies is blurred. I don't know, that's how I take it.

From his Howard Stern interview.
{snip} and how his wife Paula Patton inspired “Blurred Lines.”
“‘Blurred Lines’ has that she’s a good girl, but she wants to be a bad girl. It’s very much about my wife,” said Thicke. “My wife is Mrs. Good Girl, but gradually over our marriage, I’ve turned her into a bad girl.” He alluded to their naughty sexual escapades. “We’ve done just about everything,” he said.
But when asked if he’s brought another woman into the bedroom, Thicke stopped short. “Out of respect for her, we just won’t answer that one.”
So, yes. He is gross. Nothing wrong with what they do in private but out of respect for her you'd think he wouldn't mention ANY of it. Instead, he's trying to get attention by being mysterious'. I hope he goes away.

Blessed momma - I respect your opinion. It wasnt me who referenced cap lock blazing. And for the record, I listen to Howard stern and subscribe to Sirius mainly for him. :) as far as interpreting the song, we can agree to disagree. No harm done. Just a discussion here.
As far as her performance , didnt bug me at all - i was one of few who first said its wrong to attack her but not him. So I would think that makes me kind of openminded and NOT conservative, kwim?
That was like my whole point / lets not attack just her .. His song is equally inappropriate.

I listened to his interview on Howard Stern and it is not about rape at all. It is actually about women breaking out of gender roles and not doing what they are "supposed to". The blurred lines refers to blurring the lines between men and women because we are really all the same with both good and bad in us.

I heard the Howard stern interview too
I also read that he said it was a pleasure to degrade a woman. He said it to GQ then retracted.
I also don't like all the open letters to Miley about respecting herself and being a bad example. Where are the letters to robin thicke about not tearing some girls ass apart (like in his song). Where's HIS social responsibility for young boys and young men? Doesn't matter who rapped it in his song .. It's his hit single and his name attached.

Absolutely. I also find it interesting that what his song is about is exactly what is not happening in response to the performance. If he is saying women should be able to be like men and be sexual and not judged for it, than that is exactly what is not happening. He should be accountable for the performance, take responsibility for his role in it, and defend Miley because she is getting the brunt of the criticism and he's getting none.

I like that interpretation. I mean, bottom line- it's art, so there's no WRONG interpretation of it. If someone thinks it perpetuates rape, then that's their opinion to have. But I personally think it's harmless and so catchy!
ETA: I didn't like Miley's performance though. I think she has zero talent and it showed. I also hated her twerking but only because she has no booty and can't dance to save her life.

Posted by gina409 using a foam finger to basically pleasuring yourself
The foam finger was totally a reference to HIS video. That's where it was used first by a girl pretedning to pleasure herself in the Blurred Lines video.
Posted by gina409 I think he cheapened himself by performing with her and he didn't need to. People love him and the song
How did he cheapen himself by performing with her?? SHE was just acting out (from the actual outfit - in case you're not aware the chicks in the Blurred Lines video are supposed to look naked, they're actually topless and wearing those hideous white sneakers.) what happens in HIS video.
Not to mention, why isn't it possible that SHE cheapened herself by portraying what the bimbos in the Thicke video did? Apparently being cheap is just a one way street and it's on the woman. As a woman I don't understand how other women perpetuate the double standard.
Lets face it, he was never (publicly) going to have any other kind of reaction.

I have seen the video and the foam finger on the video is not what she did. Putting it between her legs and humping???
And I say cheapen bc I look at the song as fun and I do not see the rape angle and now after the performance I think the song and her dancing or whatever it is changed it
I think the song was good as it is and he ahould have just done it alone
And the girls in the video are not a 20 yr old Disney star sour don't matter if she wana to be seen as something different. Before that show she was seen as a child star. At least to me
