Spending Money/Pocket Money/Whatever you call it lol
Just curious as many spend more on gifts than I ever had for just classmates and wondered how much people get in their pockets as spending money per week. Made it a poll if you don't want to say.

Around $50 a week I’d estimate. I put a lot of things on my card so I don’t use cash for much.

Re: Spending Money/Pocket Money/Whatever you call it lol
It's a joke in my house that I never have cash. I just never get to an ATM. I'm also home a lot.
Anything I buy I just debit or credit. If I need to go buy something with cash - like the bagel store that doesn't take cards, or if DD needs cash for something at school, I raid DH's wallet. He carries the cash.
I really don't keep track of what I spend in a week though because I'm home a lot so I'm not running for coffee or lunch or other odds and ends like that

I only have a few bucks in cash each week. Like, less than $20 for car wash tips or something for DD's school.

I only have a few dollars on me at any given time. I rarely treat myself to things. I get my eyebrows done every 3 weeks or so and just got my nails done for the first time since March 2020. I’ve made a resolution to do more things for myself.

I don't ever have cash on me but I put on my card. The only thing I really spend weekly is daily coffee here and there.

The only cash I use is for tipping when I have my mani/pedi, since the only take tips in cash. Everything else I charge to CC

I never carry cash unless I know I am going someplace I need to tip.

I usually pull out $300 when I get it b/c I don't like stopping all the time. But I mostly use it to pay my house cleaners so I only need to get it over other month (they charge $120 for 3 hours). I rarely use cash for anything else unless it's a small amount and it's a $10 minimum on a credit card.

We budget our spending money too. That is just for us for the week. I use it for going out or for my hair or nails or alcohol.
I take $50 but $10 is for gas.

That $10 for gas gets you a gallon and half nowadays, right?

Actually I get REALLY good mileage on my car and I work from home 2 days a week. Unless we go many places, I can actually stretch that amount for the entire week.

That is awesome. I am the same actually- i rarely drive. The one good thing of me being stuck working from home is the gas savings. Which is even better because my car takes premium so it's a fortune to fill it nowadays. And I also have been saving mileage. My car has like 20k miles on it and it's 4 years old now!

Between DH and I probably take out $100 each from the ATM per week. We use this money usually on things like, take out on the weekends, doctor copays, convenience store purchases. I told DH that we should really cut back on takeout because we are really feeling the hit now with him not making as much anymore and the cost of everything going up between gas and groceries.

Wow that is awesome. That sounds like my mother during Covid. She would get gas like once a month if even that lol.

Ugghh I try and convince them in my house too to just make something. I can always find something to eat at home but they are constantly getting things out because there is "nothing to eat" according to them.

Re: Spending Money/Pocket Money/Whatever you call it lol
I pay for everything on a cc so I rarely have cash. I used to pay a babysitter in cash but we don't use sitters anymore so my only cash expense is our housekeepers that come every other week and I take money from my husband for that. I will take cash if I get a mani pedi or my hair done and I need to tip in cash. Other than that it's credit card or venmo!
We do actually have tons of cash now though because my son caddies on weekends and it's tips only, so he gives us the cash and we transfer the funds to his bank account and then he uses apple pay. He keeps a little cash on him.

I am so old school and honestly would rather deal with cash. We use our debit cards and credit cards but you spend less when you see the cash in your hands, IME. We have a very tight budget so there is only so much to go around.

I feel like in the next 10-20 years we will do away with cash and it will all be electronic.

I just find cards so much more convenient. I don't have to keep running to the bank for cash especially since our bank doesn't have very many locations left on Long Island any more so it's a pain to find an ATM. Plus I don't like having a ton of cash on me... knowing me I'd lose it or it would get stolen or something.

I felt like we were heading towards a cashless society until those stupid fees for using credit cards came along.
I used to be fairly cashless, all card but now with those stupid extra fees you get charged if you use your card at small businesses - I feel more people are moving back towards cash for certain things.

Yup, most likely as so many people always want to send me money by Venmo so many are used to not having the cash on hand.

We are lucky as we can just go to CVS and get cash so it is very convenient.

Many places don't take cards either and they do charge you extra to get your hair done, etc.

I haven't had this happen often. I also tend not to shop at a ton of small businesses anymore though.
