Spin-off to Organic Milk...Chicken? Veggies? etc
How many of you buy organic meats, veggies, virtually all organic for your little ones? I'm talking about families that were not already eating organically. We have bought all organic jarred food for DS and I am definitely going to buy organic milk...I just don't know how much other organic stuff we can afford!

I buy all organic milk and chicken.
I do my best with fruits and veggies. I'd say 90% I buy organic (fruits and veggies)

I try to buy as much as I can organic, however the budget just doesn't allow for it.
I do always get organic milk/dairy, produce, and meat though.

Re: Spin-off to Organic Milk...Chicken? Veggies? etc
In our house we strive for all organic meat dairy eggs poultry, id say we succeed 75% of the time (including take out/eating out). I grew up eating organic kosher, which my dad would go to a farm in pa and stash a freezer at home, and it was actually cheaper than what was on sale at grocery store.
I can really tell the difference between good and bad cuts of meat and chicken, especially when I cook, organic meats seem to be of higher quality when I get them. I just brine chicken in salt water if I have time, and pretty much that makes it "kosher tasing and much more tender", I actually find beef to be tastier without the brining.
As for fruits and veggies, common sense above all. Local farmsand in season is my rule first, lettuce, apples, pears, peaches, peppers always organic, and frozen organic out of season, if the price diff isn't much ill choose organic on anything.
I also go by the big 10 list, and avoid those 10 veggies and fruits unless organic.

I buy 80% organic for the kids and as a result we eat organic too ie. eggs, cheese, yoghurts, most fruits ( I buy reg bananas as they are peeled). DH would eat muck out of a can so I am trying to get him to change his ways.....

MOST of the foods, such as meats, fruits, vegetables, eggs, butter, cheese, milk are organic, not only for my kids, but for DH and I.

Re: Spin-off to Organic Milk...Chicken? Veggies? etc
I buy all organic meats, eggs, and milk.
veggies I usually buy from a farm up by our house. they are not certified organic, but they do mostly organic farming with spraying only when they need to. I get to talk to the farmer and I feel very comfortable giving my son their produce.
my only exception is leafy greens and berries. but anything I peel anyway, I have no qualms about.
we are currently buying our beef from an organic beef farm. it's much cheaper than buying it in the super. we bought 1/8 of a cow and we will be doing a full 1/4 next time. we have been very happy with this.
we are currently looking for a direct-to-consumer chicken and pork rancher as well.
I can share the info with anyone interested. it's really saved us money, avoiding the big chains for these things.
ETA: if you have a Food Lion or a Hannaford near you, they have a pretty affordable line of organic products called Nature's Place. I know they had it in Jacksonville, Fl. not sure where you are.

I do chicken and milk. Both from Costco. Honestly... I try to buy fruits from farmers markets when possible... but usually get the regular or "inorganic" ones... it's what I was brought up on.
