Where Show me where ........I am not ignorant I am asking for proof not speculation !
Get out of your sheltered bubble and you'll be able to see. They still happen. They may not be as predominant, but I know that I will never travel by car in the "deep South" and I live in the South.
But just in case...here's the latest news worthy lynching...
I don't think those sentences were harsh enough. It's disgusting what they did.
No no no, but they don't have lynchings anymore...
I think people need to stop acting like things have changed...they haven't. Like Spike Lee said when he received the MTV award for "Do The Right Thing"...it was made in the 80's and the same exact problems are still around...so has anything changed?
I blame the parents. If parents (us to our kids) teach their kids tolerance, equality, acceptance...it can be eradicated. I was raised as color blind as possible...but I know many aren't...and until then, it'll always be an issue.

I'm so happy that you find this funny. Good for you.
And the question was regarding lynchings, not just the KKK. But ignorance is bliss.
And I am so done because honestly, it's really not going to ever help you or me. So moving on.

I so agree. It does start from in the home. I was raised not to look down on anyone because of their color.

Racist:
The belief that race accounts for differences in human character or ability and that a particular race is superior to others. Discrimination or prejudice based on race.
IMO- A parade/school/gathering becomes racist when they things being celebrated, said or taught describe the above meaning. I have been to ST.Patty's parades,Italian festivals, PR Day parade and in none of those did I ever feel threatened or fealt inferior because of that was being celebrated that day which was the culture. Now when we talk about KKK when they hold gatherings & parades they pride on the fact that "they" are the superior race. It is blatantly stated w/ out regard or sympathy for other people. That is racist. IMO we have all began to in some way redifne the term to our ideas and benefit. Let's not pull away from the correct meaning of the word to make ourselves feel better about it.

And as Far as the kkk it was truly disgusting what happened what they did was horrible and morally incorrect but do they have a right to have a parade? as long as they have the proper permits, yes, they do.

well I wouldn't know what to consider a "white" parade since white to is a color. A white parade can be Irish or Brit. Anyone can have a parade it's a constitutional right. But when they meet to degrade other cultures, races and colors then it becomes racist.

See, but based on the dictionary description a parade by the KKK IS RACIST. PERIOD. What is "white"? There is no such thing!! It is not just skin color. There is no "white" parade because "white" can be many cultures...Irish, Italian, British, European...etc.
I find that people will read/see what they want as long as it further proves their point and will ignore other facts. Ignorance is bliss.

Re: Spinoff of SPEAK ENGLISH ...
I just think a lot of people fear "reverse discrimination" and feel that only minorities are allowed to have ethnic pride and white people will be labelled racist if they have pride in their culture, but that's simply not true. The St. Patrick's Day parade is a lot different from a KKK meeting.
It's the same thing with the hate crime debate, people feel it singles out white males to be treated more harshly by the justice system, but I don't think that is really what happens.
When people get so overly defensive about "Why can't we have white culture day?" it kind of makes me wonder if they are really racist.

You are completely misunderstanding .. I am asking what is considered Racist ?
You are right in the fact that parades are a clebration I strongly Agree but would you consider that segregating ?
And as Far as the kkk it was truly disgusting what happened what they did was horrible and morally incorrect but do they have a right to have a parade?
there is a difference between celebrating heritage- your past, and what makes you, "you" and being racist.
Being racist means only your type of people are "right" and belong- and the rest are inferior.
Celebrating your heritage- doesn't mean that it is right or wrong, it just means- that is where you came from.
We cannot understand our future if we cannot understand our past.

but yet on job applications and school applications, etc I am asked to reveal "for demographic purposes only" if I am white, and by their definitiion I partially am. So why the double standard?

It was 40 acres and a mule, actually. And the word is "reparations" although that's prob a Freudian slip since they were repressed!
And the pony comment is just pricess.
The UNCF was set up to assist those with no voice at a time when America wasn't helping them. It has helped so many...and does NOT discrimanate. Anyone can apply to any of the Historically Black Universities.
History of UNCF
In 1943, Dr. Frederick D. Patterson, president of what is now Tuskegee University, urged his fellow black college presidents to raise money collectively through an “appeal to the national conscience.” The next year, on April 25, 1944, Dr. Patterson, Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune and others incorporated the United Negro College Fund) with 27 member colleges. Early supporters included President Franklin Delano Roosevelt and John D. Rockefeller, Jr.. Later, then Senator John F. Kennedy donated the proceeds from his Pulitzer Prize winning book, Profiles in Courage to UNCF.
Ad agency Young and Rubicam executive Forest Long created the UNCF tagline “A mind is a terrible thing to waste,” in 1972 as a “plea to everybody to reject the prejudices of the past and consider the inner person.” It is one of the most recognized slogans in advertising history. The award-winning UNCF ad campaigns featuring the tagline have attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in donated advertising support and have included such notable figures as Spike Lee, Jr., Michael Jordan and President George H.W. Bush.
Hundreds of thousands of individuals have become part of the UNCF family through volunteering and donating resources. One of UNCF’s signature events, The Lou Rawls Parade of Stars/An Evening of Stars has raised over $200 million for UNCF students and has featured some of the world’s most extraordinary talent and celebrities, including Bill Cosby, Whitney Houston, Beyonce, Stevie Wonder, Frank Sinatra, Debbie Allen, Sammie Davis, Jr., Harry Belafonte, Usher, Boyz II Men, Mariah Carey, Diahann Caroll, Ed McMahon, Chaka Khan, New Edition, Oprah Winfrey, Lauryn Hill, Richard Pryor, President Ronald Reagan, the Winans and many, many more.
Graduates of UNCF institutions have made lasting contributions to our nation by building successful careers in the fields of business, politics, health care and the arts, to name a few. Some prominent UNCF alumni include:
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.- Nobel Laureate and civil rights leader The Honorable Alexis Herman- former U.S. Secretary of Labor Spike Lee- director, actor Samuel L. Jackson- actor General Chappie James- the U.S. Air Force’s first African American four-star general Dr. David Satcher- former U.S. Surgeon General and former director, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Dr. Walter Massey, former director, National Science Foundation, and president, Morehouse College Dr. Ruth Simmons- president of Brown University and first African American president of an Ivy League school The Honorable Hazel O’Leary- former U.S. Secretary of Energy Dr. Deborah Hyde- one of only four African American female neurosurgeons in the United States The Honorable Louis Sullivan- former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Dr. Leroy T. Walker- former president, U.S. Olympic Committee Ellis Marsalis- jazz musician; patriarch of talented Marsalis music family Carl Ware- former Coca-Cola senior vice president Dr. W.E.B. DuBois- writer, scholar educator Willie Gary- prominent lawyer Dr. Marian Wright Edelman- founder and president, Children’s Defense Fund Lionel Ritchie- singer The Honorable L. Douglas Wilder- 1 st African American governor to be elected Keisha Knight-Pulliam- actress Randall Robinson- founder of TransAfrica Rev. Dr. Floyd Flake- president of Wilberforce University and former Congressman James Farmer- civil rights leader Tom Joyner- radio personality U.S. Representative Sanford Bishop (GA) U.S. Representative Alcee Hastings (FL) U.S. Representative John Lewis (GA) U.S. Representative Major Owens (NY) U.S. Representative Bennie Thompson (MS)
UNCF Mission
Our mission is to enhance the quality of education by providing financial assistance to deserving students, raising operating funds for member colleges and universities, and increasing access to technology for students and faculty at historically black colleges and universities (HBCUS). Since its inception in 1944, UNCF has grown to become the nation's oldest and most successful african american higher education assistance organization. UNCF.org
And Miss Black America... was started because of the lack of young Black American women in pageants in the 1960's. Can't blame them...at least they did something about it.
Again...what's with celebrating culture?

I don't know how having a parade that honors and celebrates someone's heritage and culture is segregation! Yes, everyone's for assimilation (it seems) and that's great and all, but we are who we are because of our ancestors/background and since there is no "American" parade or culture...it's healthy to celebrate that which makes us, well, us. Even if the message gets diluted, I find it healthy to have a day to acknowledge our culture.
As for all girl schools, all boy, one color, etc. the argument was made that if someone of a different race/gender asks for admitance it has to be granted.
Certain things...like the Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, etc. are good for kids...take away the pedophiles...spending time with friends learning new things is always a good thing.
What's with the desire for everyone to be "vanilla" and one flavor. I guess because, as a Puerto Rican, I was raised knowing that all of us (Puerto Ricans) are a mixture of African, indian (Taino) and Spaniard and actually taught about that in school I grew up loving individualityand different races. One "people" (my people) can be blonde haired, blue eyed or have dark skin and coarse hair...or like my mom look totally indian...and this was perfect.
I'm not sure what mainland Americans (and I say mainland because being born in PR makes me American by birth) want...because the American "culture" is really not one that is celebrated since it's British based...we're all here from somewhere else. Unless you're American Indian...your ancestors came from elsewhere. What's wrong with celebrating that!!
I just wanted to quote myself...
