Spinoff to Air Travel.. WWYD?
I have a trip to Ireland planned for the end of March. If I am lucky to conceive this cycle I would be about 5 weeks pregnant. Do you think I should cancel my trip if I got a BFP? Or should I just skip this month? I know most likely a doctor would let me go I am just afraid that if heaven forbid something happened to me there I wouldn't be able to go to my doc. I have family there so they would be able to take me to a hospital in the absolute worst case scenario. We have been trying for so long and I really don't want to take a break this month... Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: Spinoff to Air Travel.. WWYD?
I flew to Chicago the day after my BFP for work and flew back again later that week. I am now 14 weeks. Why don't you call your OB now and ask? I'd expect they would say you are fine but this way you feel more at peace with your decision.
(My only concern was going through the new scanners and planned to opt for the pat down but was only asked to go through the regular metal detectors)

Thanks I am going to call my doc tomorrow. I am just scared she will think I'm stupid for asking since I am not even pregnant! lol

I'm sure your doc won't find that to be a "stupid" question - think of all the truly questions docs are asked. It's a legitimate question.
If I was in your shoes, I would probably not try until after the trip, but only for the reason that I am an awful flyer and would not be able to handle that long of a trip without a xanax. I'm sure you will be fine though.

You should be fine. The last trimester is when I would not do air travel...I was 20ish weeks and went to Miami for a bachelorette getaway.

I wouldn't cancel either.
I flew to Seattle for a week when I was 6 weeks pregnant.

I've never heard of not being able to travel in your first trimester, only near the end of the 3rd
im about 10 weeks now and my dr hasn't said anything to me about not traveling, infact she's been encouraging it!
i wouldn't skip a month of trying..

you cant let TTC change your future plans at this point. who knows how long the process will take for you. just go about your life and decide what to do if/when the time comes. theres no reason you cant fly at 5w and if something were to happen there wouldnt be anything a doctor could do that early on. so make plans as you normally would and enjoy the trip!!

COMPLETELY agree. I was a flight attendant when I got pg with DD#1 and flew into my third trimester. There's really nothing that can be done to stop a miscarriage in the first trimester, sadly.
Enjoy your trip!!!!
