spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

for someone to eat off the floor? Have you ever gone to someone's house and their floor is shinning you could eat right off of it? Everything is in place and even if kids did live there you would never know it.

I can say that I'm not the type to be obsessive of it, although I wish I was but I do keep things clean and in order. I wish things looked neater and cleaner though.

So how clean is your house?

My house is pretty clean. I wouldn't say you can eat off the floor, but I do try to mop once a week.

Well, DS DOES eat things off the floor regularly (not planned of course), but my house is less than immaculate. It's not very dirty or messy, but it does get dusty. Doesn't bother me--it's just not a priority for me.

My house is just never clean enough. I wish I was more obsessive about it but I am not.

Right now the dog is in high sheding season so its nearly impossible. Plus I feel like its hard to do alot of deep cleaning with a 1 year old attached to me at all times....

For about five minutes every two weeks - after the cleaning lady leaves and before anyone has set foot back in the house!!!

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

argh!!!!!!!!!! Chat Icon It's never tidy....

It's not DIRTY.... but it's always cluttered. We live in a 1 BR apartment, and it is a bit of an art form keeping everything in its place. Add a 7 mo old to the mix, and there's chaos...

ex. right now, one of our couches is covered with folded laundryChat Icon Lately, it seems to be like that more often than it's not... becuase we can't put the laundry away when DS sleeps... and he sleeps ALL EVENING... and wakes up at 3 am. Does anyone want to put laundry away then? heck no. In the AM, we're all rushing to get to work. and the laundry stays on the couch.... Chat Icon

every week, we DO manage to clean everything... but that too begins to fall apart by the weekend... sigh, but our little baguette is worth it Chat Icon

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

We have a cleaning lady that comes once every two weeks, and that's awesome, but our problem is clutter. My DH is a pack rat of the worst kind, and now with my mom living with us, she's the same exact way.

We have a LOT of work to do, because I already told DH that I do NOT want the house looking like this when she's crawling around Chat Icon

Not even close. When DH complains, I tell him he should have married Rosie from the Jetsons or get me a maid. Abby's room and her toys are clean. I need to clean and baby proof the rest of the place. She is on the verge of crawling.

Same here. I feel like all I do is clean and there is still TONS of dog hair everywhere, plus clutter seems to build up so fast Chat Icon I do think my house is "clean" for the most part though (floors mopped, dusted, toilets clean etc..)

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

No way!!! My house is a mess, disorganized, but not exactly dirty.

However, since DS is crawling, the one thing we maintain is the floors. We sweep or vacuum and swiffer every day and mop 1x a week and have a strict no shoes in the house policy, so, yes, my floors are clean enough to eat off of!!

I always feel like my house could be cleaner no matter what. I spend my life picking up and cleaning up but with DD, DH and 2 dogs its never "perfect". I obsess about it constantly - it actually stresses me out to no avail.

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

I WISH I was a neat freak, but quite honestly my DH and I are BOTH slobs. I mean we sweep and swiffer all the time in between moppings, but we have a clutter issue..very poor organizational skills. we also have a time issue. I work full time and go to school part time. so anytime at home is with DS or schoolwork, and my DH works 2 jobs.

Its hard because we live by DH family who are super super neat, never ever have I seen a darn thing out of place at anyones house. His briother and wife have 2 kids, but she only works 2 days a week, so has time to be clean. You could eat off their floor at any time...

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

I grew up in a very neat, clean , organized house and that is how I keep my home. Alot has to do with the time my kids go to bed. They are in bed pretty early, so I have the time when they are sleeping to maintain my home. I also have a cleaning lady every 2 weeks. I also do alot in the morning before work(vacuum, dust, wipe down bathroom with clorox). My DH does the laundry which is a huge help.

I am a bit of a neat freak but it comes through more in a tidying up way rather than spic and span clean.
