I'm a mess.

I have a housekeeper and she's almost as oblivious as I am so even on clean days it's not very clean.

*sigh*

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

Ha, I wish. My house is so messy right now, I can never get all the rooms clean at the same time.

I'm really hoping we can get a cleaning person in a couple of months. I really hate spending my weekends cleaning.

Nope, not even close. It's clean, but it's not crystal clean, and that's fine with me. Chat Icon

Yes, it is. Everyone tells me you can perform surgery on my floors. BUT, we only have one child and no pets. Chat Icon

Yes, I would eat off our floors on most days! We don't wear shoes in the house so that cuts down on a lot of dirt, plus our nanny cleans when DD sleeps. So the floors get vacuumed usually 1-2x per week and the kitchen floor is washed usuaally 2x per week.

Now if I had to do it, it would never get done! Chat Icon

No way. I mop at least 3-4 times a week, and have a cleaning lady, and my house is still messy. Chat Icon

ETA: But that is Steve's dream, he wants a house like that.

Someone was once bragging on and on to me about how clean her house is that you can eat off the floor.

My reply: "What's the matter, you can't afford a table?"

See, mopping 3-4 times a week to me, is alot!

For about five minutes every two weeks - after the cleaning lady leaves and before anyone has set foot back in the house!!!

Wow, you and I must live in the same house!!! LOL!!! Totally my situation!!!

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

I used to be totally obsessed with a super-duper clean home. I'd be cleaning all day every day with hardly any time for myself. I still clean my house everyday but 1 day I will focus on the bedrooms, next day it will be the bathrooms, etc. The only thing I am still obsessive about is a clean kitchen floor. I sweep it twice a day, swiffer it once a day (on a good day if John doesnt spill anything), and then on saturdays I'll mop it twice (once with hot water and bleach and then with Lysol). I think what made me realize my cleaning compulsion was Erma Bombeck:

"No one ever died from sleeping in an unmade bed. I have known mothers who remake the bed after their children do it because there is wrinkle in the spread or the blanket is on crooked. This is sick"

"
There's something wrong with a mother who washes out a measuring cup with soap and water after she's only measured water in it. "

It's clean and organized. Neither my DH or I can function in a messy cluttered house. Things get a little out of sorts throughout the day as I'm playing with Emerson however, once she's in bed at 7:30 we spend the next half hour just straightening up and putting everything back in its place. I cannot go to bed with things messy........I think I am OCD about it!! Chat Icon

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

My house is very clean.

I have a cleaning lady...but even in between visits, my house is very clean.

I am totally OCD. Everything is always in it's place. It's the way I was raised. Chat Icon

I can really attribute this to having a basement. Not ONE TOY is upstairs. EVERYTHING is downstairs in the playroom. And my kids would never, ever bring a toy upstairs.

When customers come over, they ask if I really have kids because my house is so neat and clean. You know who you are. Chat Icon Chat Icon

But that's what works here. It's not for everybody, and that's ok too.

Re: spinoff to Barb's OCD cleaning post...Is your house clean enough

I have my "power hour" everynight.

that's when I do most of my cleaning.

Friday afternoons are bathroom days...so if you come on thursday, there is probaby hair on the floor from my mop.

kitchen and living room floor is fine from 9PM-1PM

(I am in no way a clean freak, more like bored and homebound...who's kid can't take dust mites)

My house is very clean. You can tell a toddler lives here. I wouldn't eat off the floor, but it's still pretty clean.

My house will never be clean enough for me to stop obsessing over it. Sometimes I wish we bought a smaller house since it is PITA to clean. I used obsess alot more but realized that it is ok to leave a dish in the sink every once in a while. (Gasp...Did I just say that out loud?)

I am a bit of a neat freak but it comes through more in a tidying up way rather than spic and span clean.

This is me exactly. I am a neat freak and I despise clutter. There is absolutely no clutter in my house. I don't clean at all. I have a cleaning lady that comes every other week. The only thing I clean in between are the kitchen counters each night and I wipe down the bathroom with clorox wipes. I also don't have any pets.
