spinoff to induction? BTDT moms...

those of you that were induced...why were you induced?

Just curious...I am getting close to my due date and want to avoid an induction if possible. I know there are many reasons why one might be induced...just wondering.

I had Gestational Diabetes and at my 39 week sono DD was measuring at 9lbs5oz.

My blood pressure which was 110/70 my entire pregnancy was started to move upwards at an alarming rate starting with my 36 week appt.

I'm not BTDT yet, but my Dr. may be inducing me early because I have Cholestasis

I was induced because my child wanted to make me his permanent home.

They let me go to 41 weeks and decided to evict him.

I had no medical reason really. I had told my OB that I felt the baby was moving less at my appt, but it could've been because I was in early labor. So after the internal, she said I was having contractions (I couldn't feel them) and could go in, I jumped on it. I was tired of waiting and it was getting close to Christmas. In hindsight, I should've waited it out at home.

I was 42 weeks along and not even a cm dilated. It was time to kick DD out.

I had high BP, severe swelling, protein in my urine and other symptoms that showed I was developing pre-eclampsia.

I was scheduled to be induced at 41w5d. I did go into labor that morning, but with no progress at all so I was induced anyway. DS was born at 42 weeks.

I was induced by my due date because- they told me DS was measuring big all alnong and then @ my last GS he was on the smaller side- so they didn't want to take a chase of me going any longer than my due date. I was always puzzled by this but I went in the hosp sun night and after a few rounds of cervidil and pitocin and no results- I finnally had to have an E Csec on Tues (my DD) because DS heartrate went down everythime I had contraction and we later found out that he was gripping the cord

I was induced with DD1 b/c she was SGA.

I was induced because I was a day past my due date and my baby was thought to be big(she was 8 pounds 15 ounces at birth).

i was 2cm at 32 weeks and stayed that way until 38 weeks when i was 5 cm and fully effaced...all this w/o any regular contractions. my dr induced me at 38 weeks bc they were concerned i would go into labor suddenly and finish dilating too quickly. i pushed for 4 hours and ended up with a c/s!! so much for going "quickly"!

I had GD so i was induced at 38 weeks with DD #1 and 39 weeks with DD #2.

Induced because my son's head was measuring SO large at the growth sono that I wouldn't have been able to deliver at 40 weeks. As it was, I was barely able to deliver him at 39 weeks.

i had the option of induction or csection at 40w2d...

we chose csection for several reasons -

- i was late
- the baby was big (estimated 8.5-9 lbs at the time) he was born the next day at 8.7lbs
- i have clotting issues which worried the doctors if i were to have a LONG labor
- 0 cm, 0 effaced

I chose a section because i had a "non-favorable" cervix. at 40w1d, I was still at 0, my cervix was long and going nowhere. my doctors were afraid to stress my uterus with a long labor and then if I needed a section, they were fearful of bleeding issues.

i was given the option of having the section on thursday or waiting until monday to see if i went into labor on my own. i had the section on thursday. my doctor told me after that there was no way I would have gone by monday on my own. my cervix was just not cooperating.



i do have to add, im a little sad after all was sad and done, knowing that I will have to have a repeat section with future pregnancies. i had BAD reactions to all the medications and was sick for the first 8 days PP. Finally, at 13d pp, im feeling mostly like myself again.

my blood pressure went up in the last week so high that it was unsafe to keep the baby in me

At my 39 week visit, DS's heart rate was elevated and would not come down while I was on the NST, so they sent me straight to the hospital to be induced.
