Spinoff to Israel/Palestine thread from last week...
It's very foolish to think that when weapons are stored in schools and private homes you can pin point rockets to destroy them without hitting any innocent people with that said I feel sick for all those women and children who did not choose war but it was forced on them by Hamas who disregard all lost life including their own women and children. How sad!

What disturbs me the most int he recent events is the UN schools/buildings. They interviewed the (I believe british) man that runs the one UN school. He works for the UN and is a neutral party. I can't believe the UN would allow Hamas to store weapons here so the death and detraction of these building is very very wrong IMO.
I won't get into the whole situation over there because I think both side have blame.
I agree. Apparently there was rocket fire "nearby" and the school became collateral damage. Not acceptable at all.

This has been documented many times by both reporters who report the truth! That's why there are so many children who died. Israel does not kill children unless there shooting from inside schools, or even have explosives booby trapped inside building and walls. Yes I feel terrible that any child should die but Israel is in a situation where it's their citizens or the people digging the tunnels and shooting the rockets Yes, we have to defend our people and our children.If the people of Gaza would care about human life theirs or ours they would never be in this horrible situation!

I don't agree with the article or with much of what is being said on here. I don't feel like going back and forth, but I will make three quick points. 1. Hamas has spent 90 million dollars in aid money on building tunnels into Israel and rockets. They haven't spend a penny to build bomb shelters for their people or protect them in any way. They have done nothing to improve infrastructure or ease poverty. 2. They deliberately hide weapons in civilian heavy zones. Last week, they choose a Un school. They love civilian casualties because it is a huge PR win for them. 3. There are videos of Hamas leaders going on Palestinian TV and telling Palestinians to stay in their homes as act as human shields as a way to gain victory against Israel. I am happy to share these videos if anyone is interested. So while I am heartbroken by the death of innocents I feel the blood is on the hands of Hamas ( for many more reasons than stated here ).
I agree with both of the above posters.
I stand with Israel - always.

The civilian population have choices not to allow Hamas to put rockets and missiles into their homes and stop believing Hamas when they tell parents Don't cry for your dead children they are martyred and heroes in gds eyes! Yes they have choices to stand up for peace so that no child gets killed on either side!!!

The rockets that are shot are not fool proof and yes the people of Gaza live under a blockade because all that comes in is used to kill Israeli citizens. Israel lets all food and construction material into Gaza and yes they did not use it for the protection of their people! Why is Israel putting Gaza in a blockade because all that comes in is used to hurt their citizens. Which country in the world that you know of evacuates enemy soldiers into hospitals where their own troops are treated. How many children are treated in Israeli hospitals during this horrible war and prior to this war. Children have received treatments including transplants along side with sick and injured Israeli children! Yes, I do stand with Israel and all people who want peace so that they and their children can prosper and grow!

But...Israel is not the only one blocking them...So is Egypt. And if the Muslim brotherhood really cared, they would lesson the restrictions and allow the people of Gaza to come into Egypt to escape. But they aren't. Why are no other arab nations protecting these people?

This is that sad truth. More and more land keeps getting pulled from them, and the Palestinians are forced to live in ghetto like conditions in Gaza. They have no where to go.

That's true, but Egypt is a completely different country. Gaza is in Israel. Egypt is having a lot of their own problems at the moment. That being said, I think they should open the border to women and children at the very least.
Turkey tried to send an aid flotilla to Gaza in March 2010 and it was attacked by Israel. It's hard for them to get aid specifically because of the blockade.

I would like to add what would happen if Israel lifted the blockade and allowed everything into Gaza? How many more Israeli citizens would be slaughtered . The cement that was let in again, was not used to build buildings only tunnels to kill more people. Yes, war is ugly and bombs are not but the Israeli government does not intentionally kill kids on a beach! Hamas should they have the opportunity would kill every child in Israel!The people of Gaza should stand up and say enough is enough and not allow or vote for Hamas to rule in Gaza. Don't hide bombs and guns in your house and not expect your family will be killed! That being said, I hate this war even one child dying on either Side is a tragedy but Israel has every right to protect its people!

We'll, the Arab nations are providing food and humanitarian relief. Mind you the month this conflict started was the holiest month in the Islamic calendar so things were a bit slower than usual. Egypt has their own issues, adding another group of people would be a burden to their economy.

So using your own words and logic, Palestine has every to defend its territory as well. All is fair in love and war.. One side cannot be given a free reign on doing whatever it needs to protect its citizens.. Every life regardless of Israel or Palestine, is important. This thing need stop and people need to respect each other and call it quits.

I think the problem here is that people need to start separating the government from the citizens. Hamas is a horribly corrupt and violent organization. Only 44% of Gazan's supported Hamas in the 2006 election. So that means more then half the population doesn't support them. Should people have to suffer because their government is evil?
I think many people including me are disturbed by the amount of deaths on the Gaza side. There have only been a handful of Israeli civilian deaths. Rockets come from Gaza but rarely cause death or injury.
It's an awful situation on born sides. Thank you for being so respectful and thoughtful in your posts!

No one is taking away their territory, they are the ones trying to grab the whole Israel you can't have peace if someone just wants you to be dead! Gaza was returned to its people and look what they are using their territory for ! Why would Israel want to give them anything! They smuggle bombs and weapons along with food coming in to Gaza! There would be no blockade if they would want to live in peace build their cities and educate their children. But sadly that's not their goals!

I'd be happy to post dozens of children's videos ( Palestinian Sesame Street ) actively encouraging children to kill jews and die a martyr's death That doesn't mean that everyone in Gaza agrees with this ,but it would be naive to argue that there isn't a cultural bias towards martrydom and hatred.

Do we have to wait until Hamas has better rockets to be more precise so that the Israeli and Arab death toll be equal! Yes we need to do everything in our power to protect our citizens I wish we could say the same for Hamas. Also the flotilla that tried to come in was filled with food along with guns, bombs ,rockets Yes, we kept them out!

I just hate this war and think of every innocent person getting killed in a conflict that wasn't their making. How many more people have to be killed in order to stop it!! I only hope that the people of Gaza can rebuild and learn to live in peace with their neighbors.

Actually Hamas broke it by kidnapping an Israeli soldier. I believe this is the fifth cease fire they have broken thus far.
