Why in the world would Israel agree to
Opening the borders and easing conditions for bringing in food and othe humanitarian aid? When Hamas is calling for the total distruction if the state of Israel and the death of every Jew who lives in Israel ! Along with the food and water came guns and bombs cement that was used to build tunnels to murder civilians. There would not be one more death on either side if Hamas would truly want peace and truly care enough to feed their own people. There would be no need for any blockade if Hamas would truly be a partner in peace with the state of Israel The need for tighter restrictions will have to be put in place. It's a scenario that Hamas totally created.
Do you think that maybe if they treated them like human beings than maybe that might change? They absolutely did not "create" this situation.
ETA: There are overwhelming reports that state that Hamas was not responsible for the kidnappings of those poor boys or that Israeli soldier.

It's a documented fact that Hamas gave out candy after 9/11 and after every Israeli death No they can't be treated like human being because their not. Their aim is not feeding or educating their own people Hamas has stated almost daily that their aim is the destruction of the state of Israel and the establishment of a Muslim state. It doesn't end there they would destroy every state that is not in line with their religion. So sacrificing their own people women and children is nothing they care about. Because after all they will go right to heaven . Those poor children in Gaza are suffering and dying because of Hamas .. But according to Hamas they are all martyrs! No opening borders and allowing freedom to cross over will even out the numerous of people who will die on the Israeli side. The Israeli government has an obligation just like every other country to protect its citizens. That being said my heart breaks for every Muslim child that dies in this conflict that they had no part in creating.

I am very sorry, but that just proves that you are reading from false sources. That video was proven to be false.

And if creating a prison camp is how to keep its citizens safe that's ok. When Hamas truly wants to feed and protect their people then all borders can be open! If people were coming to kill me and saying they are going to kill my family YES I WANT THEM IN PRISON, No country has open borders with a state that has said over and over we will wipe you off the face of the earth.

Gaza was returned to them as a place that was built up and beautiful. It is now bombed out and destroyed. People are suffering because Hamas truly doesn't care about any human life. But their leaders are not in Gaza they and their families are safe and sound! It's the innocent people who are suffering because of Hamas no country can tolerate bombs being thrown at their cities! Blockades we're put I to place after people died. Even ambulances were fitted with guns and ammunition. No Israel can never have open borders until Hamas truly wants peace and prosperity not destruction for their own people. Until that happens there will be blockades and wars and innocent people will die I don't have an answer but I know that Israel wants peace and has no choice but to kill these murderers. Unfortunately innocent people die in all wars.

Have you read Hamas's charter ? You don't have to like Israel, but it flies in the face of all evidence to not acknowledge that Hamas is terrorist organization who cares more about the destruction of Israel than the welfare of its own people. Read their charter, watch their videos telling civilians to act as human shields,analyze where the millions of dollars worth of aid money to Gaza has gone ( hint : not to improving the lives of Palestinians ! ). If Gaza is a prison, that lies with Hamas. When Israel pulled out of the land they left hundreds of greenhouses that had been importing fruit and flowers for decades. What happened ? Every single one was destroyed. Beautiful libraries were left behind. Every single one was destroyed. See a pattern ? What has the Gazian leadership done to make Gaza live able ? Not much.

Yes IDF soldiers do make mistakes but every crime is investigated and charges are out forth that's the part that doesn't get reported! For every crime that is committed by an IDF Soldier there are 100 times more crimes committed by Hamas soldiers With that how do you know toes videos are real??

One more thing : if Israel is attempting genocide they aren't doing a very good job since they have the firepower to level Gaza. They do their best to warn civilians of impending attacks and strike in a controlled manner. They aren't perfect and their enemy hides In a heavily populated area ,so there will tragically be casualties. However if they desired the destruction of the Palestinian people, they would have achieved it long ago.

Who treats enemy combatants in the same hospitals as their own soldiers. Who treats Palestinian children along side of Israel children Israel values human life unfortunately it's forced be become killers in order to survive and prevent the deaths of its own citizens

You are right that Hamas was not responsible. The greenhouses were looted and destroyed by Palestinian vandals associated with the organization Fatah, I believe. I don't know how to post the links from my ipad , but this should be easy to verify.

I saw this thread last night but wasn't going to comment. But this has really been bothering me. I'm Jewish and my parents and husband are Israeli. We are all heartbroken over the situation. My relatives and my husbands family are all over there. My husband and his 3 sisters all served in the army. My cousin was just recalled in, and I am worried about him. He just had a baby, and the only Israeli deaths have been military. Not because they are not bombing civilian areas, because the Israelis are protecting themselves. I see face books posts from my American and European friends who now live in Israel posting about the bomb shelters and trying to keep their babies calm during all this. But it is the life every Israeli knows. My dad had his own stories of bombs going off by his home in the 50's. It is just the reality of living in Israel.
The Israelis are saving their people but losing the public relations war. Hamas is doing the opposite. Did you know that Israel drops leaflets in use areas they are going to bomb so the civilians will leave. Israel reveals it's military plans to try to limit civilian deaths. But Hamas forbids people from leaving. Hamas puts their weapons is schools so when the Israelis attack the bombs civilians are killed. There is not an Israeli I know that isn't saddened by the civilian deaths, especially the women and children. But when Hamas is using civilians as human shields, civilian deaths will happen. They believe that the civilian deaths will be a "holy" death and help them win the PR war.
Jews don't believe in a holy death. We believe in the sanctity of life. Israel traded over 1000 prisoners to save 1 soldiers life. That is how much we value life. Except for bid laden and Hussein, none of the Israelis I've known have ever celebrated the death of "the enemy." And they don't hate Muslims- just those who want to harm us.
I don't know how many of you have been to Israel, I've been there a lot. Normally, in the major cities the Jews, Muslims and Christians live together in peace. It's the fringes like gaza is where all this hatred is. My in laws Muslim neighbors don't like this. They live better in Israel than in lots of other places. Look at Syria and Iraq. Thousands of deaths, poverty, no education, no health care. but it's not at her hands if Israelis. Where is the outrage in that??? Look at Africa- killing people for not converting to Islam. Is that in the news?
Hamas's mission is the destruction of Israel. They don't want a 2 state solution. They was the Israelis gone. How on earth can you have peace with someone who doesn't recognize your right to exist? I pray for peace, but with Hamas teaching hatred to children, it won't be this or the next generation.
I can't add much to this thread beyond what Shelly, Meredith, and others have already said. However, during all of this conflict, I have been recalling the Israeli Arabs who I met during my time in Israel. The rest of the world doesn't realize that in Israel, the Muslims and Jews (& Christians) live side by side with respect for one another. My former Rabbi has made aliyah to Israel, and one of his closest friends is an Arab man who calls him "abba" (Hebrew for father, "babba" is arabic for father).
I am sad for the people of Palestine, but I 100% believe that Israel has every right to defend itself. If they were to stop, Hamas would continue firing...they've proven it time and time again. They don't want peace (Hamas, not the Palestinian people as a whole), they want Israel and the Jewish people destroyed.
