Spinoff to When Flying.. Are you afraid to fly?
Are you afraid to fly?? 
IF you are does it stop you from flying?
Was there a certain time in your life when you started to?
I am afraid to fly but it doesn't stop me.. I used to never be but as I get older I get more scared to do things
My hands sweat and I have an anxiety attack  , but I LOVE to travel so it won't stop me !!

I'm not but my DH is terrified. For about 3 years we didn't go anywhere, then he was finally convinced to take a tranqulizer. Well, he also had about 5 gin and tonics on board and feel into a deep sleep - I kept checking his breathing to see if he was ok  . After that flight he's been a little better, but he still takes a tranquilizer, just w/out the alcohol.

No, we fly often and I enjoy it- because it means I am going somewhere!. What I dislike about flying is the HORRIFIC pain that I feel in my ears- it feels like someone is stabbing my ears with knives!

Thats what I am going to have to start taking.. Or an Ambien so i can sleep through the flight

It honetly depends on my mood. During take-off I am especially squeamish.
If the flight is turbulance free I am fine. But the slightest bumps I start to get tense. BAD turbulance and I am FREAKING OUT

No, we fly often and I enjoy it- because it means I am going somewhere!. What I dislike about flying is the HORRIFIC pain that I feel in my ears- it feels like someone is stabbing my ears with knives!
OMG thats the worst!!! And last yr I was flying home from FL, and I had a really bad cold so my ears were stuffed already and it was horrible

Try pinching your nose shut and blowing air out, like you're going to blow your nose. That should get it to pop and relieve the pressure.

I've bene flying since I was 10, so yeah, my ears pop and I've experienced turbulent rides, but it beats sitting in a car for hrs on end!

my problem is I HATE not being in control, I also don't like to let under people drive(but I do LOL) b.c I feel like my life is in their hands.. and I can't control it ya know?

i read that no one has ever died from turbulence...a plane coming down from turbulence is almost unheard of...
so if that mames you feel better...remember that..

Yes I'm afraid to fly, and yes it prevents me from flying which is why we plan all of our vacations within driving distance.

I've been in almost all version of commercial jet, prop planes where the co-pilot handed out drinks to the dozen people on board (and they asked our weight!), single prop planes in a two seater Cessna, helicopter. Missed out on an opportunity to go in a glider, but would have liked to try that. I love flying, even if I'm not going anywhere but up in the air and back down again.
As much as I love being in a plane, I am NOT jumping out of one!

I do it all... I wear earplanes as well-it helps- BUT the only thing that REALLY helps me, is this: DH or whoever I am with gets two cups-we bring washclothes and he soaks it in steaming hot water-either from the bathroom or the steward will do it- put it in the cup- and put the cup over my ears. I look insane....but the steam helps.
Plus, I take a nasal spray before I go up... it's a process, but it's not the pressure or popping that bothers me, it is the pain

Only during take offs and landings, other than that, I'm fine. I don't like the ears popping though, it happens for me badly.

i flew for the first time when I was 15...I was not scared....I actually don't mind flying. It is not something I enjoy but i don't hesitate to fly!
