I am afraid, though not as bad as I used to be. For years after 9/11 (until 4/05) I wouldn't think of flying, then I realized I have to get on a plane if I want to honeymoon in Hawaii, so we took a flight to Colorado, I was fine except takeoff and landings which I never liked.
I was fine on the way to Hawaii too, the way back, we had turbulence from somewhere over the Pacific to somewhere over PA, so that freaked me out, even though I could see on the monitor that our altitude wasn't changing, I have only flown once since then and I was ok.
Hopefully it won't affect traveling too much, but we dont' travel a lot anyway, even before 9/11

PETRIFIED of flying...
TERRIFIED is another word that comes to mind.
It does not, however, stop me from flying b/c Vinny loves to travel and I put aside my HUGE fear for him b/c I feel it's not right and selfish of me to make us both not travel b/c of my fear.
So I suck it up, take a few Tylenol PM's mixed with a couple of shots of Dimeatap and I'm woozy and usually out like a light right after take off.
I have always been this way-- even before "fear" was instilled into me lol meaning, I can remember even as a child, even before I had learned that planes could crash-- I remember being afraid and thinking "this doesn't seem 100% safe" lol I was a crazy child.

I am very afraid of flying....When I was little it was bad and it got really bad when I was in college...I don't let it stop me from travelling and usually after takeoff I'm fine

I HATE flying but it doesn't stop me from travelling...It is ironic that I am afraid because DH works in the aviation industry.

I don't really "love" flying but I'm not scared of it. I think just because its always long and boring and your cramped up in a little seat.

i read that no one has ever died from turbulence...a plane coming down from turbulence is almost unheard of...
so if that mames you feel better...remember that..
This is what I always tell myself...and you never hear of a plane getting bumped out of the sky.
However I HATE takeoff.
