I am against what? I have said they should stop the extra so people will go back to work and not make more sitting at home.
The job my child would have is not in a restaurant if that satisfies you as that is not the jobs they usually have and wouldn’t be their first choice. They actually try and work in places that will help them in the future with a career. Not all of their jobs as like I said they have worked quite a few years but that it the main goal when you get older.
Still excuses. If you need money you work where you can. Even if it’s not your first choice. Especially while you are in college. I worked in a food store ans I am doing just fine in my career. You can say nothing that justifies your son taking advantage. Cause he is at least admit it. That’s what annoying right now that your saying what people are doing is wrong but he is doing it also. Didn’t realize he is to good to work in a restaurant or anywhere else if he needs the money
It’s like you haven’t heard anything I have said. They can not work right now because of the process of moving so no summer job can be done. Why take a job that you would have to quit for a month or two when someone with a family or who truly needs it can have it?
Eh, excuses. You can get a job anywhere right now. Employers don't care how long you will keep the job, they just need help now! It's ridiculous, and not okay. And lazy.

People are getting $300 extra right? They stopped the $600?
I can’t really blame service workers one bit, even if I tried. No one in his or her right mind would just keep working at a pizza joint or something during a pandemic when you could use the time to acquire new skills to hopefully get something better in due time.
No one here would be serving fried mozzarella sticks at 10 pm versus getting the unemployment benefits.
The $600 stopped awhile ago. $300 now.
Maybe people enjoy that type of work. You make it sound like it is a menial job that no one wants and is degrading.
I want the workers to be paid fairly if they choose to return. The fact that some were able to get paid more then their usual earnings makes me happy.
Nothing like blowing out the nation’s budget to create a population that becomes dependent on hand-outs from the government. Do you ACTUALLY think the majority of ppl are actually pursue passions and acquiring new skills? You have quite the faith in humanity.

It’s not right to get a job and then leave them high and dry when they can get someone else that maybe needs the job more and will stay. Not fair to make a job train you when you know you will have to leave and they will have to start all over.
They actually had 2 job offers and had to decline when the apt went through. Not a lazy child who I worry about working. This kid has worked since 16 and is actually interested in school, interning and working a job. On top of having a social life.
There are many older adults whom I have heard stories who are doing nothing but collecting their money. Or working 2 days a week to get that money, unemployment and the extra $300.

Last time I checked I get money taken out of each of my pay checks for unemployment. It's not a government hand out.

Exactly and when you need it, it is there. Sounds like many are bitter over people getting unemployment if it is not under their standards who should get it.

The US government is borrowing billions to pay for extended and increased UE for covid relief. This goes beyond what is collected from our paychecks. And yes, when our politicians are bankrupting our nation’s future to secure votes from a population I consider this a hand out/bride. I’m certainly not saying there aren’t individuals out there who don’t need or use the benefits appropriately-of course there are. I just believe all of this additional spending is unnecessary and is setting us up for economic troubles.

Are you serious with this comment??? Who is bitter? the people that are saying those who are taking advantage of it shouldn’t be getting it??? Which again your son is doing.
Aren’t you one of those people that think the extra unemployment should end??
So again it’s not ok when others do it but since your son is doing it it’s ok???!!!

Staffing shortages
When was it an additional $600/week? I remember back when everything shut down DH did unemployment bc he was furloughed and I could have sworn he got the top amount from NYS which was around $500 and then an extra $300...

Pandemic Unemployment Compensation: Additional payments of $600 per week for benefit weeks ending 4/5/2020 to 7/26/2020 and $300 per week for the benefit weeks ending 1/3/2021 to 9/5/2021 while unemployed.

Maybe people enjoy that type of work. You make it sound like it is a menial job that no one wants and is degrading.
So unemployment is $300 a week, biweekly of a month now? What if they have children?
It’s $300 a week on top of what you get from NYS.
What so u mean what u get from nys? How much do the give for unemployment? That’s based on a percentage of what you were making. It’s hard to figure out or at least I don’t understand it lol. But max pay is $504 a week.
Yes - it's a percentage of your weekly pay up to $504 (it was lower a few years back when I was collecting). So on top of that $504 - you would get an extra $300 a week right now (previously $600, and I believe before that it was $800).
When was the $800? As far as I know it was always $600 from March 2020. That is all my child was getting.
Sorry - it was $600.
