Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
I always did. I put it in for say 20 seconds then before giving it to DS shook it up pretty good.
DS never had any issues and he doesnt like anything that is too hot!
ETA: we use the drop ins and never had an issue. I would remove the nipple part prior to putting it in the microwave.

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
I never really did with DD #1 but I do with my 2nd. She is BF for the most part but when she does get a bottle it is usually heated for a few seconds in the microwave. I just swirl it well and check temp to avoid hot spots.

I do- flame away. 20 second for an 8 oz bottle. Shake it super well - never had any issues.

eta: I used the drop ins as well and its not in their long enough or getting hot enough to cause a problem with the liner.

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
I never did b/c I use Dr. Brown's and if you shake it up too much it gets all into the tube and defeats the purpose of it.
Also, if it is for breastmilk it does destroy some of nutrients and antibodies in it.

We did the same thing. Just to take the chill off. Honestly, if you put a bottle in really hot water, you can have hot and cold spots in the bottle that way as well. The interior will still be cold, and the outside will be warm.
No matter how you heat the bottle, it needs to be mixed to even out all the temps.
When DC were screaming their heads off for a bottle, we weren't going to wait minutes to heat water, then use that to heat the bottle when they could be drinking within 30 seconds or less.

DS was EBF for nine months but afterwards we did formula. I would always warm the water in the microwave then add the formula. Never had a problem and I had it down to a science depending on how much formula he took.

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
i give my son cold formula. i've read it doesn't affect them one way or another and i know my brother was fed that way and never once complained. to appease my husband, i'll pour the formula into the bottle after the feeding and let it warm up to room temperature by just standing there. DS eats every 4 1/2 hours so well within the rules on the bottle for feedings. DS is happy with it and i avoid another step in feedings, plus will make the transition to cold milk from the fridge easier.

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
I've only used the microwave with cow milk (I dont think there is much difference). We haven't had a problem but we shake it half way and then again after it stops to mix it all together. Microwaves cook from inside out and I could see how it would be possible to mis-judge temp and wind up with hot spots. We havent had a problem though as long as we shake it.

I did. To avoid the hotspots just shake it. We never had any problem. I will tell you that the dropins do blow up if they are microwaved

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
I never did. I kept a small pot next to my sink and just filled it with hot water from the sink. Kept the bottle in there with the water running for 30 seconds and it was fine.

Re: stupid question from new mom #597 lol
we used the bottle warmer for a while. Now that DD is 7 months, we put that away and we use the microwave. We rarely heat it up since most of the time we use the powder.

Me too.... However, I only started doing this once we switched DC to milk. I microwave the bottle and then shake the helll out of it
