Not happy as well as my child. That is all I will say.
Are they atleast offering online courses?
No clue honestly and I would rather have my child, and them also, go to a class than online. One already has all online except for a lab which they need to constantly take Covid tests to go there. It is ridiculous.

Hofstra just announced they will require the vaccine as well....
Aren’t all NY schools part of SUNY and CUNY?

I'm not surprised. They require the meningitis vaccine, etc. for college. Illness runs rampant in college settings with small shared dorms, parties, etc. Once it's fully FDA approved, I don't think there will be any legal recourse for getting out of it. Sucks for everyone who has already enrolled and now has to scramble to find another school though
True but not all schools have dorms and students are living at home.

NO. There are many many private schools (colleges and universities) in NY that are not a part of SUNY. Hofstra, St. John's, Columbia, NYU, Cornell, West Point, University of Rochester, LIU/CW Post, Adelphi, Molloy, among hundreds of others

I wonder if you will still need vaccines even for online.
Right now in k-112l even you chose full remote you still need to be caught up on all vaccines or you still were not allowed to attend. I know some people were in an uproar over this but its no like non vaccinated children were allowed to come back to school so I can see why they made everyone attending remote also be up to date.
Now with colleges I do feel like its different so they should allow them to attend online even without vaccines but it wouldn't surprise me if they don't.
I cannot speak for all colleges and universities, but at least some are not requiring vaccinations for students who are in fully online programs/taking all of their classes online.

U’re right about remote students still needing to be up to date (not with the delayed vaccine schedule, still with the catching up schedule which is more vaccines in less time). Parents (at least the ones that have stopped vaccinating) were upset about this because if it was time for their child to get the next due vaccine or booster during covid time, they would have been able to use the excuse of not being in the classroom and therefore buy more time for their kid to still continue being enrolled in their district.

The mandate is contingent on full FDA approval. So no need to question about how can they mandate something that is not fully approved
He should not have left that part out on his tweet then...
Cuomo’s tweet
Although I think we all know fda approval is around the corner.

Re: SUNY/CUNY and vaccines
Once it is FDA approved, I think the onus will be on colleges to mandate it. Otherwise, I think they are liable for putting students at risk, especially if they are doing lecture style classes again.

I dont get the uproar about offering an incentive. They do it for blood donations so why is this a big deal because some people don’t want to get it at all and don’t believe in it??!! I don’t hear uproars when the Red Cross does it so why now. Who really cares??!!!
I’m on the fence of getting it and o can tell you offering something free to me won’t change my mind but hey if I do decide to get it and they want to give me Something great!

What is the Red Cross offering as they come to my job and we don’t get anything?
If this vaccine is so great they wouldn’t have to bribe people to get it.
I would never take a $25 gift card to take an emergency, not FDA approved vaccine. It is not worth it to not know if I will get something later on associated to the vaccine.

Red Cross offers incentives all the time and they vary. They offer gift cards tickets to games etc. I actually gave blood at work once and got Met tickets.

I got Jets pre-season tickets years ago for donating blood. DH's job in the past offered free meal coupons from the cafeteria for donating blood as well. It is no big deal to offer incentives to encourage more people to do a good thing such as give blood or get vaccinated.
The vaccine will be be FDA approved shortly, that was just a matter of time and literally won't change anything about the vaccine's efficacy or safety. Will it somehow be more appealing to you if an FDA approval is now slapped on it?

It is being forced down our throats. Never have they ever bribed people to take a vaccine. It is ridiculous. Give people a choice as this is not giving blood which I don’t usually do, but I could see trying to offer incentives to do that because it is needed.

You do have a choice. Don't take it if you don't want to but if they want to incentivize people to get vaccinated, why do you care? How does that remotely affect you? The FACT is, the more people that are vaccinated the better off we will ALL be. As far as I am concerned, they can offer all the free beer, ice cream, gift cards and whatever else as they want if the end result is getting more of the population protected.

No probably not as I would like to see the long term effects it might have. Who knows what could happen in a year or 2 when people are already having odd things happen to them (see menstrual thread). Giving blood is a totally different animal. No one is forcing you non stop to do it and you won’t have to worry about getting sick or having other issues after.

Yes offer unhealthy things to get a vaccine to boost your immune system instead educating people how to stay healthy so they won’t get sick and won’t need the vaccine. Makes sense SMH.

Nobody is "forcing" you to get a vaccine either. Unless you're kidnapped, held down and injected I am not sure why you're so worried. You have a choice in the matter, you made YOUR choice so move on. Who cares what everyone else is doing and why. If someone is swayed to get vaccinated because of a free beer, so be it.

Re: SUNY/CUNY and vaccines
The thing is, if someone is truly on the fence, or truly has reservations about getting this vaccine, I highly doubt $25 is going to push them over the edge. Or free food or drinks or whatever.
The people who wanted to get it- got it or will be soon. They didn't need an incentive.
Those who have reservations still - wont' be swayed by some paltry gift. If I'm not getting it yet it's because I have true concerns- and if those concerns can be swept away by $25, well then they were never true concerns.

Do you know how many unhealthy things people eat and breathe in EVERY day? Give me a break, this is silliness. And guess what, perfectly healthy people get COVID too so there's that.
